Great Things to do with Grannies
Make an Afghan
Making a blanket is one of the most obvious
things to do with granny squares, but also
the option with the most variations. I
have listed some of my favorites below.
1. Use the same square pattern iwth a
variety of yarn colors.
2. Use the same yarn colors on a variety
of square patterns.
3. Make a flower garden afghan by making
a vareity of squares that look like
flowers.
4. Make a christmas afghan by using red,
green and white yarn in squares designed
as snowflakes.
Make a pillow cover
By using eight 6-inch granny squares you can
create a beautiful cover for a 12-inch pillow
form that you can get for just a few dollars
at almost any craft store.
Make a bookmark
Crochet a 3 to 5 small granny squares using
breadspread weight thread and join in a row
for a pretty page marker.
Make a tote bag
The number of granny squares you will need
will depend on the size of the square you
are using and the size of the bag you want
to make. Just make the two sides, join
together three of the edges and add handles.
Make a scarf
If you join eight or nine 6-inch granny
squares in a row it makes a wonderful scarf.
