ABOUT ATO
Ato Boldon is the greatest sprinter ever to come out of Trinidad and Tobago, and possibly one of the greatest sprinters of all times. He lived with his mother, who was not only his mother, but also his role model. His father did not live with them when Ato was growing up. Ato began running at the age of 16. In addition to Ato being a great athlete, he is also a very smart man. Before students can attend High School in Trinidad, they must first pass Common Entrance, which is a placement exam. Boldon placed 6th in this exam, and went on to one of the nation's top High Schools Fatima College. When Boldon moved to the US he was published in Who's Who. This is a journal which profiles academically the top five percent of students in the US, and Ato was one of them. In December of 1996 Ato graduated for UCLA with a degree in Sociology.

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Ato has many accomplishments at such a young age. He is the youngest ever to go under 9.90 in the 100m. Boldon is also only one of six men to run under 10 seconds in the 100m, and also go under 20 seconds in the 200m. He is also the youngest on that elite list. At the age of 17, only a year after he began running competitively Boldon became the 1st ever champion in both the 100m and 200m at the Junior World Championships. In the 1995 World Championships from Goteborg, Sweden, at only the age of 21, Boldon became the youngest man ever to win a World Championship medal, by getting the bronze in the 100m. In 1996 Boldon won two bronze medals in the Olympics in the 100m and 200m. Most recently Ato became the 1997 World Champion in the 200m, by blowing out the rest of the competition.

PERSONAL BESTS & GOALS
Ato's best time of 19.77 in the 200m was run in Stuttgart, and is the 3rd fastest time ever. His best time of 9.87 was run in the 1997 World Championships. Ato's goals for the 1997 season are to run 9.79 in the 100m, and run 19.65 in the 200m. People may think that is outrageous, but Ato even said that he likes to set high goals for himself, and he reminds everyone that he did exceed his goals from last season. Ato will be going for that 100m record at the 1997 IAAF Grand Prix. This young man is definetly the brightest, and upcoming star in track and field.
