Tyrannosaurus rex STAN Skeleton - Fossil Replica (BHI #126378)
STAN is the largest, most complete, Tyrannosaurus rex, of the male (or gracile) morphotype, ever found. Discovered in what had once been the sandy bank of an ancient stream, the bones of the skeleton and skull were separated and spread over a wide area. Spring floods eventually covered the bones with mud where they remained buried for years. This disarticulation resulted in near perfect preservation of the skull.

Stan Sacrison discovered this magnificent specimen in the spring of 1987. In the spring of 1992 the Black Hills Institute staff undertook the excavation. It took more than 30,000 hours to prepare STAN for display.

STAN T. rex is truly the best T. rex replica available anywhere! Nearly 40 feet (12.2 m) long and 12 feet (3.7 m) high at the hips. The strong, steel support structure is hidden within the bones, allowing the eye to follow the 'in-motion' appearance of this impressive, crowd-pleasing fossil skeleton replica.

Each STAN T. rex skeleton is constructed according to your needs, allowing you to fashion a more dynamic exhibit. Whether you want your STAN walking, stalking, attacking, running, jumping or looking your visitors right in the eye, we welcome your input, so long as the pose requested is natural and anatomically possible. Constructed modularly with no section more than 6 feet long, this incredible specimen can be assembled by an experienced crew of six in just under an hour!

Bucky the T-rex Return to Top of page

Tyrannosaurus rex Bucky Mounted Skull - Fossil Replica

"BUCKY" is a sub-adult T. rex of the robust (female) morphotype. The original bone quality and preservation is excellent, allowing the creation of very high-quality casts. BUCKY's youth makes the skeleton cast an ideal candidate for smaller venues or as a part of a family group.

The skeleton was discovered in 1998 by its namesake, Bucky Derflinger, a rodeo cowboy and rancher, who was himself a sub-adult at the time of discovery. The Black Hills Institute did the excavation in 2001 and 2002. Enormous resources were required, as the skeleton was scattered over an approximately 2000 square meter area, buried under as much as 10 meters of overburden! BUCKY was prepared, molded, and mounted by BHI for The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, where it went on exhibit in June 2004 (specimen # TCM 2001.90.1).

BUCKY has a nearly complete vertebral column to the end of the pelvis, the third most complete tail of any T. rex known and an excellent rib cage complete with gastralia basket (belly ribs). The addition of the gastralia basket enhances the visual perception of the dinosaur, as it better outlines the shape of the body. The skull is a scientific reconstruction that utilized modified casts of DUFFY (another sub-adult T. rex) and other T. rex specimens.

Because of its size, the Bucky skeleton produces a visually dynamic running pose, which is more difficult to achieve in larger specimens. Many other poses are available.

Extras Crate and packing fees apply. Please contact us for details.

Lease Info The Bucky skull measures 49 x 24 x 45" high (plus height of the stand. The skull is leasable starting at $900 (for up to) a month, plus shipping cost. The skeleton is also available for rent/lease. See DinosaurRentals.com for more details.

Tyrannosaurus rex BUCKY Furcula - Research Replica

BUCKY's furcula was the very first 'wishbone' to be discovered for Tyrannosaurus rex.

This specimen demonstrates how closely Theropod dinosaurs are related to living birds, and shows that Tyrannosaurus rex was more closely related to a Hummingbird than to Triceratops!

The furcula is shaped very much like a boomerang. The original specimen was broken on the left side, probably in life. There is a pathology at the base that is most likely due to a stress fracture that healed, indicating the powerful strength of this fearsome creature.

Cast replicas of BUCKY's furcula are available restored or unrestored.

This cast is suitable for research or reference purposes. Note: some portions of the original fossil may have been scientifically restored.

Tyrannosaurus rex DUFFY Mounted Skull - Fossil Replica (BHI #100128227)

DUFFY is a sub-adult Tyrannosaurus rex. Stan Sacrison discovered DUFFY in 1993 and the Black Hills Institute excavated the skeleton in 1993, 1994, 1996, and 2006. Seventy-six bones and 49 loose, rooted teeth in total were recovered from the site, making the skeleton 25% complete. Many of the bones discovered were from the skull making the skull a remarkable ~70% complete. The dig site encompassed an area of about 55 x 70 feet.

In 1966, a crew working for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County under the direction of Harley Garbani discovered another T. rex (LACM 23844) which included most of the skull of a very large, mature animal. When it was put on display in Los Angeles, LACM 23844 was the largest T. rex skull on exhibit anywhere. Garbani also discovered several other partial skeletons over the next decade (including LACM 23845, the holotype of "Albertosaurus" megagracilis), some of which are maintained in the collections of the University of California Museum of Paleontology in Berkeley, California. Other skulls and partial skeletons were discovered in South Dakota and Alberta, Canada in the early 1980s. (Horner, J.R. & Lessem, D. 1993. The Complete T. rex New York: Simon & Schuster. 238pp)

Tyrannosaurus rex Left Arm - Gracile (Male) - Fossil Replica (BHI #127647)

Tyrannosaurus rex Left Arm - Gracile (Male) - Fossil Replica

Many people know that T. rex had only two fingers, but did you know that T. rex had three metacarpals? The vestigial remains of the third digit are cleverly tucked away in its palm. The semilunate bone has also been discovered. The semilunate bone is found in the wrist joints of all birds, it is the bone that allows birds to fold their wings. This find is very important as it demonstrates the close family ties between T. rex and its modern-day feathered counterparts.

Our gracile T. rex arm cast includes the third metacarpal that was discovered with this specimen.

Make a comparative exhibit with both male and female (gracile and robust) Tyrannosaurus rex arms - or with the arms of other dinosaurs.

Tinker the T-rex Return to Top of page

Tinker is the skeleton of a juvenile t-rex. It is two-thirds adult size and only one-fourth adult weight. In human years, Tinker could well have been a teenager.

Tinker is a T-rex because of his teeth. Tinker’s teeth have tall, conical, slightly recurved anterior crowns. These crowns are taller relative to diameter and more circular in cross-section than any other member of the tyrannosaurid family Tinker’s lower jaws hold a single nipping tooth and 12-13 tooth sockets per side. T-rexes have very distinctive teeth. Tinker has those same teeth so he is considered a Late Cretaceous T-rex.

Daspletosaurus Return to Top of page

Daspletosaurus skull and skeleton cast replica.

While very large by the standard of modern predators, Daspletosaurus was not the largest tyrannosaurid. Adults could reach a length of 8–9 meters (26–30 ft) from snout to tail. Mass estimates have centered around 2.5 tonnes (2.75 short tons) but have ranged between 1.8 and 3.8 tonnes (2.0 and 4.1 short tons).

Daspletosaurus had a massive skull that could reach more than 1 meter (3.3 ft) in length. The bones were heavily constructed and some, including the nasal bones on top of the snout, were fused for strength. Large fenestrae (openings) in the skull reduced its weight. An adult Daspletosaurus was armed with about six dozen teeth that were very long but oval in cross-section rather than blade-like. Unlike its other teeth, those in the premaxilla at the end of the upper jaw had a D-shaped cross-section, an example of heterodonty always seen in tyrannosaurids. Unique skull features included the rough outer surface of the maxilla (upper jaw bone) and the pronounced crests around the eyes on the lacrimal, postorbital, and jugal bones. The orbit (eye socket) was a tall oval, somewhere in between the circular shape seen in Gorgosaurus and the 'keyhole' shape of Tyrannosaurus.

Please call (314) 556-0650 or email us for more pictures or information.

Daspletosaurus shared the same body form as other tyrannosaurids, with a short, S-shaped neck supporting the massive skull. It walked on its two thick hindlimbs, which ended in four-toed feet, although the first digit (the hallux) did not contact the ground. In contrast, the forelimbs were extremely small and bore only two digits, although Daspletosaurus had the longest forelimbs in proportion to the body size of any tyrannosaurid. A long, heavy tail served as a counterweight to the head and torso, with the center of gravity over the hips

Closely related to the larger and more recent Tyrannosaurus, Daspletosaurus had dozens of large, sharp teeth and the small forelimbs typical of tyrannosaurids. Daspletosaurus was at the top of the food chain, probably preying on large dinosaurs such as ceratopsids and hadrosaurs. Restoration of the rest of this skeleton is under way and should be completed some time in 2016

T.rex Tarbosaurus skull cast replica 4

This skull is available for rent or purchase!

Although many species have been named, modern paleontologists recognize only one, T. bataar, as valid. Some experts see this species as an Asian representative of the North American genus Tyrannosaurus; this would make the genus Tarbosaurus redundant. Tarbosaurus and Tyrannosaurus, if not synonymous, are considered to be at least closely related genera.

This skull cast measures 44 inches long, 29 inches high, and 24 inches wide.

$4,900 plus crating and shipping.
