ONLINE TRAINING ON PARAPHILIAS AND SEX OFFENDER TYPOLOGIES

Sexual Abuse Treatment, Research, Resource, and Referral Homepage

Sexual deviancy has proliferated every segment of our society. In many states, sexual offenders account for nearly 30% of the total prison population. Moreover, there are over 140,000 reported cases of sexual abuse in the United States every year.

This training will be conducted over the Internet, through email attachments, access to audio/video feeds, a special webpage with all the material and a discussion forum. Each registrant will interact and correspond with Mr. Rosenberg directly, and on the start date you will be sent links to the web pages, email attachments, access to the message board, and Mr. Rosenberg will contact you to establish times and days to discuss the material (you will be able to email Mr. Rosenberg anytime with any questions).

Conducting trainings over the Internet provides the registrants with ample flexibility and convenience. Even if the registrant will be out of town on the start date, he or she will still be able to receive the emails, email attachments, and will have the opportunity to dialog with the instructor at a time that is convenient. For those who can open "wav" audio files, parts of the lectures may be sent to you also in that format. Each registrant will receive, via email, writings and the lecture on the different types of paraphilias (i.e. pedophilia). After reviewing the lecture and documents, we will offer a chatroom discussion for each registrant. Also, each registrant will be able to dialog via email with Mr. Rosenberg, and, if desired, each registrant can dialog with Mr. Rosenberg via Instant Messaging on the lecture topic. Finally, each registrant will receive a PDF downloadable copy of Mr. Rosenberg's workbook, Understanding, Assessing, and Treating Sexual Offenders: Tools for the Therapist.

OBJECTIVES

Each registrant receives via email:

You will also receive a CD-ROM with all of the material, via regular mail. This training series will provide each registrant with an extensive amount of information, printouts, and resources.

Mental health professionals, law enforcement professionals, and legal professionals who work in some capacity with victims will find this seminar insight and beneficial for their work. For victims therapists, having a sound foundation of knowledge with regard to the sexual offender will assist in understanding the effects of the abuse; the type and strength of the denial produced; and provide insight into treatment methods.
