Little known facts.......

I was born April 24, 1964 in Saginaw, Michigan. I'm the youngest of six children, three girls, three boys.....oO(Brady Bunch?) NOT! I moved to California in December of 1986, and I still currently live in the San Diego area. I am married, with no children (yet), but I do have 4 cats and 2 birds!

I have had many interesting jobs since I started working at the age of 13. My first job was at a little country store across the street from the house I grew up in. I stocked shelves, loaded coolers, pumped gas, bagged groceries, and basically hung out and chatted! This job lasted until I entered high school and decided it was more fun to hang out with my friends. I then stopped working until I graduated.

My next job was right out of high school at the local pizza parlor. I made pizza, salads, subs worked the cash register, waited on customers and did general clean-up. I had some of the best times here with my friend Lori. There were only three of us who worked here, and usually it was she and I on the weekend shift. I usually came in at 4:00 in the afternoon and worked until 1:00 a.m. Since it was a small town, we knew everyone who came in or called. We had so much fun that I wish I had a video tape of the whole four years. If I could organize my thoughts, this could be a page by itself!

During the time I worked at the pizza parlor, I also got a job working as an aide to the local high school secretary, it went thru one summer and part of the school year. It was through a program and after I passed the age limit, it ended. I liked that job alot too, the people were wonderful to work with, and the kids were great.

After my school job ended, I worked for an old italian lawyer who thought women should be seen and not heard, needless to say, I gave myself a gift and quit on my birthday after four months. To tell you how bad he was, his daughter also worked for him and quit the same day!

After I quit the lawyer, I got a job in a self-serve gas station. I worked the 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift during the week and on the weekends I worked from 1:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. I still can't understand how I managed to do this and the pizza parlor at the same time! It was a fun time though, especially after my friend Lori came to work at the gas station too. We used to laugh and say we ran the town. It was so much fun, it didn't seem like work. I have some good stories from this job too, but have not decided how to put them on paper yet. I worked at the gas station for a year as a clerk and then I got promoted to be the manager for another year.

During this time I met my future husband. At the end of my gas station days, we began to talk about moving to California. This would be a big step for me as I had never been away from my family for any length of time, but being young and in love, I followed my heart and came to California with my man. Once we got here, we promptly got jobs in Newbury Park at a place that made VHS movies, mostly Disney, we did not work in the factory part right away though, we worked in the warehouse putting some kind of varnish on the floor. This was not too bad, but when we finished that job, we went to the assembly line and I despised that! It made me dizzy. One day I almost passed out from having my head bent all day. We lived in a motel room at this time too, and that was sucking up all of the money, so we moved to the San Diego area with my husbands brother.

I got my next job at KMart, working in the deli up front. Does anyone remember that? While I was working at KMart, one of my neighbors told me about a place that she got hired at. It was called Deutsch, a plant of some sort, so I went and filled out an application and was hired immediately. I started working there on an assembly line, but it wasn't like the movie job, so I stayed. After 3 months, I was promoted to another side of the plant as a plating inspector. I did inspection for the remainder of the first year, and then I was promoted to a plater. I plated gold and nickle and copper and such onto componets. I did this for the remainder of my time at this job, I had almost hit the 8 year mark when I quit to take my next job.

This job I kind of stumbled into, and it has been my favorite job so far. I lived next to my apartment manager, and she was quitting to move back home to PA, and she asked me if I would be interested in doing her job. Well, after working at Deutsch so long, I was more than ready for a change, so I jumped at the chance and that is how I became "The Manager". I had lived at this complex for six years before I became the manager, and I really loved these apartments, so it was easy to accept this job. I managed here for two years until the building sold.

I then got hired on at 24 Hour Fitness Corporate in the Member Relations department. I did this for 3 months and I really liked it, but I did miss Managing apartments, so when my company called and offered me a building they had just bought, I took it and this is what I am currently doing...I am throwing around the idea of having a page titled the "Apartment Chronicles" being a manager has given me a whole bunch of stories to tell!

I would like to mention that I worked at the gas station and pizza parlor at the same time, and also I worked at KMart and Deutsch at the same time, but I quit the KMart job after I got settled at Deutsch because of too many hours. I was working at Deutsch from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and then at KMart from 4:30 p.m. til 9:30 p.m. and on weekends too. It just go to be too much and so I gave KMart and the brown and orange polyester uniform up!
