Got to Toronto around one today...just hung around, got signed in. We got the cutest little rubber ducky in our bags, autographed by Paul Gross!! We also got a mouse pad and pin.
Finally met my roommate at the Meet and Greet...met some other nice folks too. The Production panel this evening was great...Jay Semko and Jack Lenz were both there. They are both so nice! Very approachable and friendly. They talked about how they got into the music business, and wound up with due South...They talked about the possibility of putting out another due South album, this one with the original music from the show. That would be so wonderful. Jack also said he would try and get the due South "opera" for us...At the end of the panel they both signed autographs...it took forever because they talked to everyone that came up. Real sweethearts.
Spent a lot of the evening watching CKR movies...terribly cruel that one man could be so beautiful! Callum certainly has been in some odd little movies...watched 'Last Night', 'Men With Guns', and 'Hard Core Logo'. Finally decided I'd better get to bed if I wanted to be functional tomorrow!
We also had a Kit Kat tasting conest this afternoon. They had Kit Kats from Germany, Netherlands, Australia, Canada, and the US. The Kit Kats from Germany won. Any surprise?
The real excitement came at the auction...Dean McDermott, Catherine Bruhier, and Tom Melissis all put in appearances at the auction! The auction had already started and was going pretty well when they announced Dean and Catherine. Let me just say, Dean is so much more handsome in person than on television! The evening took off from there. Dean was hilarious! He's such a ham!! He definitely knows how to work a crowd - I think the items he auctioned off went for quite a bit more than they would have otherwise! For example, a Canadian flag went for $700, a napkin he kissed (along with a real kiss) went for $250. On my part, I bought the 'Green Room Buffet', which consisted of three beer bottles (signed by Dean, Tom, and Catherine), and a plate with crackers, cheese, and grapes signed by Dean. It was $60, which was pretty cheap compared to a lot of things. The interplay between Dean and Catherine was terrific, and only got better when Tom joined in the fun. He was so cute and sweet! He was so endearing at the auction! He's not nearly as suave as Dean, but that's what was so wonderful. He donated pictures that he had taken and had blown up and mounted. Every time someone would bid he'd say, "Really? That's great." It took him forever to get through the things he auctioned, partly because Dean and Catherine kept teasing him.
Tomorrow Tom and Catherine will be back, but Dean has other obligations so he will be unable to attend. The auction went on til the wee hours of the night...
The second panel was Ramona, Catherine, and Draco (along with Rick). Ramona is funny! She was telling us her list of bad luck...It was so obvious how much she really loved being a part of due South. Draco was so cute! He really is a lovely dog. Rick was telling us how he had to have surgery on his eyes...Draco really stole the show! At their autograph session I got my picture taken with Draco, and the girls were very talkative.
The last panel was Tom, and Ramona and Catherine again. Tom kept going on about his new show, Riverdale. In it he plays a "sexy, rough around the edges private eye." I'm hoping to catch it on CBC this fall. I was so excited when I went to get his autograph...I asked him if it would be okay to take his picture, because all of the others I had taken, the microphone was in the way. Also, when he was signing my book, he said "You were in the second row laughing!" Which, of course, I was! He signed my book "Theresa, You're a hoot!"
The big news...Paul Gross will be joining us tomorrow! I could hardly eat dinner because I was so excited. He's going to do a question and answer session, since we all already have his autograph on the duckies. Everyone looked so nice at the dinner. Plus Ramona and her husband, and Tom, and Catherine were at the dinner, which I thought was cool. I had a little exchange with Ramona at dinner...I was in line, talking with Judi about pierogies. All of a sudden I look up, and ramona's right across the table! So I blurt out "hi!" and then we started talking about pierogies!
Of course, me and my mouth had to comment on a couple of things Paul said...He said that it was great that we were all there, because he never gets to see people watching it in their homes...so I said, "Come on over!" He was also talking about stratjackets, how he didn't understand how magicians can get out of them. So I piped up, "They're magicians!" He laughed his lovely little laugh...
He really is a wonderful guy. He was only going to stay for an hour, but ended up staying longer. All in all, a wonderful way to end the weekend.
