1948
Steven Tyler is born Steven Victor Tallarico on March 26, 1948 in New York, NY.
 
1950
Joey Kramer is born on June 21, 1950 in New York, NY.
Joe Perry is born Anthony Joseph Perry on September 10, 1950 in Boston, MA.
 
1951
Tom Hamilton is born on December 31, 1951 in Colorado Springs, CO.
 
1952
Brad Whitford is born on February 23, 1952 in Winchester, MA.
 
1969
Aerosmith is formed as a combination of the Jam Band and Chain Reaction.
 
1970
Aerosmith gives their  first public appearance at Nipmuc Regional High School in Mendon, MA.
The band shares an apartment at 1325 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.
 
1971
Guitarist Ray Tabano leaves the band and is replaced by Brad Whitford.
John O'Toole and Frank Connoly get involved with Aerosmith, O'Toole provides free practice sessions and Connoly starts working towards helping make the boys a big time act.
 
1972
Steven Tallarico changes  name to Steven Tyler.
Aerosmith and Columbia Records ink a deal (Aerosmith's first big contract) for $125,000.
The band records their first album
 
1973
The first album, Aerosmith, is released on Columbia Records and the band begins touring to support the release.
The Dream On/Somebody single is realeased.
 
1974
The band records Get Your Wings.
The Same Old Song And Dance/Pandora's Box single is released.
The Train Kept a Rollin/Spaced single is released.
 
1975
Get Your Wings is certified Gold.
The S.O.S. (Too Bad)/Spaced single is released.
Aerosmith's third album Toys in the Attic is recorded and released.
The Sweet Emotion/Uncle Salty single is released.
The Walk This Way/Round And Round single is released.
The You See Me Cryin/Toys In The Attic single is released.
 
1976
Aerosmith becomes a headlining act and is one of the biggest draws in the country.
The band records and releases their fourth album Rocks which goes platinum.
Aerosmith launches a tour of the U.S. which hits a total of 58 cities.
The Last Child/Combination single is released.
The Home Tonight/Pandora's Box single is released.
The Walk This Way/Uncle Salty single is released.
The Dream On/Sweet Emotion single is released.
Dream On reaches #3 in the Billboard Charts.
 
1977
The boys tour Japan for the first time ever.
The Back in the Saddle/Nobody's Fault single is released.
Aerosmith's fifth album, Draw The Line is recorded and released.
The band's second European Tour begins.
Draw The Line is certified platinum.
The band starts its longest tour ever, touring behind the Draw The Line album well into 1979.
 
1978
Aerosmith co-headline California Jam II with Ted Nugent.
The band plays at Boston's Paradise as Dr. J. Jones and the Interns.
Aerosmith appears in the movie Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band as the Future Villain Band.
The album Live Bootleg is released.
 
1979
Aerosmith releases Night In The Ruts.
Joe Perry leaves Aerosmith and forms The Joe Perry Project.
Jimmy Crespo replaces Perry and the band goes on tour in support of Night in the Ruts.
 
1980
Aerosmith releases Greatest Hits on Columbia Records.
Joe Perry Project release Let The Music Do The Talking.
Brad Whitford leaves the band.
 
1981
Brad Whitford and Derek St. Holmes record Whitford/St. Holmes.
Rick Dufay replaces Brad Whitford in the band.
Joe Perry Project releases I've Got The Rock n' Rolls Again.
 
1982
Aerosmith releases Rock In A Hard Place.
 
1983
Joe Perry Project Records Once A Rocker, Always A Rocker.
 
1984
The original Aerosmith reunites.
John Kalodner signs the band to Geffen Records.
 

1985

Aerosmith does a two night stand starting New Year's Eve at Boston's Orpheum Theater.
 
1986
The band records Done With Mirrors and releases it in November.
The first of two live compilations, Classics Live, is released.
Aerosmith records a new version of Walk This Way with Run-DMC.
 
1987
To follow up their prior effort, Classics Live II is released.
Aerosmith releases the album Permanent Vacation.
Permanent Vacation earns a Triple-Platinum status.
 
1988
Aerosmith wins two MTV Music Awards for Dude Looks Like A Lady (Best Group Video and Best Stage Performance in a Video).
The band releases Gems.
 
1989
The band's 10th studio album, Pump, is released.
The videos The Making Of Pump and Things That Go 'Pump' In The Night are released.
 
1990
Aerosmith plays a gig in London where Jimmy Page joins them for 6 songs.
The band receives two MTV Music Awards for Janie's Got A Gun, Best Metal/Hard Rock Video and Viewers Choice Award.
 
1991
Aerosmith signs with Sony.
Aerosmith wins a Grammy Award for Janie's Got A Gun.
A CD boxed set, Pandora's Box, is released.
Aerosmith appears on The Simpsons TV show.
Aerosmith is inducted into The Boston Garden Hall of Fame.
The band wins an MTV Music Award for The Other Side (Best Metal/Hard Rock Video).
 
1992
Aerosmith makes a Rock The Vote video.
 
1993
The band records and releases Get A Grip.
The reissue of the band's twelve Columbia releases as Box Of Fire is released.
Aerosmith wins an MTV Music Award for Livin' On The Edge (Viewer's Choice Award).
 
1994
Aerosmith appears at Woodstock '94 by headlining Saturday night's show.
Aerosmith wins a Grammy Award for Livin' On The Edge as Best Performance by a Duo or a Group.
The CD Big Ones is released.
Aerosmith wins four MTV Music Awards for Cryin'! (#1 All Time Favorite Video as voted by MTV viewers, Best Video, Best Group Video, and Viewer's Choice Award).
Aerosmith stars in their own video arcade game Revolution X.
The band tours Latin America for the first time.
 
1995
Aerosmith wins a third Grammy for Best Performance By A Duo or Group with Vocal with Crazy.
 
1996
The band goes through a lot of turmoil while recording their album Nine Lives.
The original cut of Nine Lives is canned and the entire CD is rerecorded.
 
1997
Aerosmith releases Nine Lives.
The band's autobiography Walk This Way is published.
 
1998
The boys continue the 9-Lives tour. The second world-wide leg goes to Japan.
Steven cuts the track I Love Trash on Elmopalooza!
Steven Tyler tears his left ACL on the bands trip to Alaska! He requires surgery and rehab. The band has to cancel much of their remaining Nine Lives tour and postpones more.
Aerosmith plays on the soundtrack to the hit movie Armageddon. They play four tracks including I Don't Want To Miss A Thing which charts at #1.
Just as the tour is to resume, Joey Kramer is burned in a freak accident when his car catches fire while being filled with gas. Once again their  tour is delayed again.
The band releases A Little South Of Sanity, a two CD live set.
 
1999
Aerosmith ends the 9-Lives tour and starts a well deserved break.
Tour dates for the A Little South Of Sanity are announced.
Aerosmith wins an American Music Award for Favorite Rock/Pop Band.
Aerosmith wins their 4th Grammy for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal for Pink.
Aerosmith is given the Artist Achievement Award at the Billboard Music Awards.
Aerosmith makes MTV's list of the 100 Greatest Videos Ever Made at #5 for Walk This Way and #48 for Janie's Got A Gun.
 
2000
Aerosmith comes in at #11 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.
 
2001
Aerosmith performs at the Superbowl Halftime Show with *NSYNC, Britney Spears and Mary J. Blige.
Aerosmith is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Aerosmith releases Just Push Play.
The single for Jaded is released and reaches #1 on the charts.
Aerosmith next release is Young Lust.
2002
Aerosmith is selected for MTV ICON honors to be presented on April 17th, 2002 in Los Angeles
Aerosmith releases Oh Yeah.
