Rainy Craft Shows

Back to Topic Index

Spring is here, the birds are singing, the bees are buzzing and the rain is falling!  And rain can be a major problem for out door craft shows!  So here are a few tips to make a rainy craft show weekend just a little better.

  • If you can, purchase rain ponchos and keep them with your show equipment.

  • If rain is in the forecast, take water-proof boots/shoes or at the very least two pairs of shoes/sneakers. Keep a dry pair of shoes and cloths for the drive home.

  • Whether your display allows customers to come all the way into your booth or not, purchase a tarp to lay on the ground. An inexpensive painters tarp is good also. This is a good idea even if the rain stopped a day or so before the show.  The more people that walk around in the booth, the more mud is made.  This will also keep some of the dampness out of the booth, this is good for you and your soaps.

  • If you own a EZ-Up, take extra clamps.  Use these to pull the top canvas tight in-between the frame work.  Use the clamps to hold in place.  This helps to keep the rain water flowing off the top.

  • If you are using other materials as a booth covering make sure you have
water-proofed these items prior to the show.  There are many water-proofing items on the market, you will have to look to see what works well for your materials.

  • Take extra clear painters tarp to cover your tables, if necessary, during a  cloud burst.  Water proof tablecloths.

  • If a storm is called for during the night and you have an EZ-Up, Bring it
down to the lowest position.  This keeps wind and water from getting under the top. (even with sides on)

Spring weather can be beautiful, but it also can be difficult for the outdoor shows.  A little fore thought will get you through the worst weather!
