The strange thing about this song is that Patrick plays it in Drop D, while Jay plays 
it in standard tuning (I know this for sure because you can tell by their video; I could 
also see it in the Muchmusic performance, and since I happened to be pretty close 
to Patrick during a concert in 2001, I actually saw him retune the string afterwards).  
So let's say Jay's guitar is guitar 1, and Patrick's is guitar 2.

(And I know, it's not G#5, it's F#5 - I've fixed that now.  Because of the Drop D, the 
bass note is on the fourth fret, and I immediately thought "G#5" :))
