The books in brief: Each book is around 60 pages, divided into chapters, illustration-free (originals) or with photo illustrations (new version), paperback (old version) or hardcover (new version), and approximately 3 x 3.5" (old version; the new ones are larger).

As you can probably tell from the confusing explanations above, the books have been reissued in hardcover, with photos of the dolls posed in scenes inside. These newer books are much nicer than the originals (slip-covered mini paperbacks), which I have. You may wish to purchase the books "in person" since these two editions exist. The old paperbacks are very small, paperback, and illustration-free, so they would not be nearly as fun for girls as the newer editions.
The plots are pretty typical ones that you've probably already read in other books, but they are well-written, and the lessons are important ones that girls need to learn in order to be individuals who value honesty, friendships, and accountability to others.

Title: Dancing Dilemma
Star: Karina Grace
Synopsis: Karina does such a good job at tutoring a fellow ballet student, that she ends up wondering if she has created a rival.
Lesson: helping others who are struggling at something you are good at
Opinion: This is a message all ages need to hear!

Title: Horse Sense
Star: Olivia Hope
Synopsis: Olivia wants a horse for her birthday, and lies to her friends in saying she is getting one.
Lesson: Honesty, doing the right thing even when it's not what you want to do
Opinion: I like the realism of Olivia Hope not really getting her own horse, yet still being able to enjoy being with them.

Title: It's Hard to Say Good-Bye
Star: Taylor Angelique
Synopsis: Taylor adopts a dog from the local shelter, and secretly realizes it might be the perfect surprise for her friend Lily, whose dog has just died.
Lesson: Honesty, generosity, losing a pet is hard, and sacrifice
Opinion: This is my favorite book in the series. It's especially cute because it's the only one that contains illustrations (two, of dogs). But it's fun because of the slumber party mentioned briefly in the last chapter, and it handles loss well.

Title: My Story
Star: You
Synopsis: This book is blank, so that a story can be written about and by the girl who owns the book series.
Lesson: You have an important story to tell, too
Opinion: What a great idea for girls! The only ways the book might have been improved would be to have lined pages and for the pages not to be glossy (which can be hard to write on).

Title: Peep for Keeps
Star: Lily Rose
Synopsis: Lily finds a bird in a storm, and takes it home.
Lesson: Keeping nature as you find it
Opinion: The plot teaches girls to respect nature and leave it alone, but it is also illegal to keep wild birds in your home, and I wonder if the bird would have fared as well as it did in this book.

Title: Teamwork Counts
Star: Briana Joy
Synopsis: Briana Joy is not playing soccer for fun. She's playing to show everyone that she's the best and brightest star on the team.
Lesson: Cooperation, teamwork, and playing team sports for fun instead of to win
Opinion: I enjoyed this book, because it's something I think even adults need to know: children should play team sports for fun, not as competitive athletes who only want to win.

Title: Two Smart Cookies
Star: Anna Sophia (Olivia is also in the book)
Synopsis: Anna wants to win a contest, and will do anything to win, even if it means being dishonest. The book also includes a visit from her grandmother from Mexico.
Lesson: Honesty, even when it's hard
Opinion: This book has a great lesson in it, but unfortunately it has an error that is important to point out. Anna and Olivia's pet dogs eat a lot of chocolate (accidentally); this is something that could be dangerous or even lethal to dogs, yet the book does not mention this. Please keep chocolate away from your pets, and contact a vet immediately if they ingest it.
