Wrestling Terms

Is there some terms you've heard on this or another website that you haven't heard before? Well, if I haven't covered it here, email me and I'll gladly add it.

angle - a wrestling "plot" which may involve only one match or may continue over several matches for some time

booker - the person responsible for angles, finishes, hiring and firing in a promotion

card - a group of matches in one location at one time.

draw - To attract popularity from the fans; the ability to bring in marks.

face - [babyface] a good guy.

fall- [pinfall] a referee's count of three with the loser's shoulders on the mat.

finish - the event or sequence of events which leads to the ultimate outcome of a match.

heel - a bad guy; rule-breaker.

house show - an event that is not televised

job - a staged loss

jobber - an unpushed wrestler who does jobs for pushed wrestlers. Barry Horowitz and the Brooklyn Brawler are two of the best known.

pop - a sudden response, by a crowd, to a wrestler's entrance or move

run-in - interference by a non-participant in a match.

save - a run-in to protect a wrestler from being further beat after a match is over.

turn - change in orientation from heel to face or vice-versa.
