It's May 27, 1996. A day that would be remembered in the minds of wrestling fans for years to come. An event I truly reguard as the "biggest Nitro in history". It's the night the NWO was born. Scott Hall fresh off his WWF contract appears in Chicago and gives a speach at the end of the program, that ends with the words, "Hey, you want to go to war? You want a war? You're gonna GET one." With this, started what is probably the most popular stable in the history of wrestling. In the weeks following, Nash made his first WCW appearence and in the biggest face to heal turn in history, Hogan disreguarded the fans and joined the NWO. It was July 14, 1996 and Mean Gene summed the thoughts of the fans the best by asking Hogan "...excuse me, EXCUSE ME...What in the world are you thinking? " The month following, the NWO would began a tradition of gold, by Hall and Nash helping Hogan beet the Giant for the WCW World Title. More time passed and the NWO began to take more control of the WCW, announcing that Ted DiBiase was the financial and managerial backing for the entire NWO. Soon following was the character change of Sting. It appeared to the world that Sting had joined the NWO, when a likeness of him jumped out of a limo, in an attempt to injure Lex Luger. After the loss at War Games, Sting gave an interview that would be the last time we would hear him speak for about one and a half years. The 1-2-3 Kid soon jumped ship from the WWF becoming a member of the NWO. The NWO was quiet for a while, announcing that Vincent would be the driver of the new NWO nascar and Nick Patrick as their ref. The Giant vs. Ric Flair for the US Title was signed, but Flair was forced out with an injury as the nWo attacked him with lead pipes. Giant then took possession of the title which he didn't rightfully own. Meanwhile on the nWo segments on Saturday Night, the Outsiders won the tag titles. On Nitro, the following weeks, the nWo would regularly attack the Macho Man, so it seemed only fitting that Savage would get a title shot at Havoc. Havoc was a big event for the nWo, the Outsiders took the tag straps from Harlem Heat and the Hogan beat Savage, retaining the title. A few weeks later, the nWo sent another shock wave through WCW, when Eric Bischoff was announced as the newest member of the group.....this article will be completed within the next week thanks to IWZ for some of this information.
