Every Monday at just past 8 you know what goes through my mind? Not Wrestling in general but one certain angle that stands out. Ya know like the Scott Hall/Kevin Nash, 4 Horseman/Eric Bitchoff. Stuff that makes wrestling what it truly is and will be. Without these angles wrestling has absolutely no point, hell it would SUCK!!. That is why you see wrestlers with angles more successful in the business. Wrestlers that have not
developed and angle will never have a “name” in wrestling.
So what makes a good angle. Lets see, surprises, action, mystery, interfering wrestlers, interfering outer sources, sinister acts ect. All the angles you ever hear about in current wrestling use these to the fullest extent to make it great. So this is why the 50 year old sport of wrestling is getting more fans and media coverage. Hell, I have never seen or expected so many people to watch wrestling. Take nothing away from the wrestlers, there are some greats. Nash, Steiner, Goldberg, Austin, Giant, Undertaker, HBK, that is 7 out of about 25 or 30. Those wrestlers and the angles makewrestling.
Let me put a figure in front of you. The news that you watch on TV is made to be understandable for seventh graders (yet you have to be 17 to get in to a R rated movie). That is what America’s status is, so wrestling is not much higher, and right now these angles SUCK. I mean SUCK Is to good of a word for the angles on WWF, and WCW it really aint that much better. So why is wrestling on Monday like the number two rated show on TV? Let
me go through this real easily for you. America is getting-a-kick out of these
angles cause thats at there level. (Trust me I don’t want to offend anyone
right now, by saying there stupid ya know this is an opinion column you
might just have a different taste then me.) I and many other fans who were
watching wrestling in the early 90’s know that it is a real bore.
The main problem I see in the angles is the length. The
Austin/McMahon lord, my birthday wish which is in august it is for the god
forsaken thing to end. I don’t give a flying fruit if Mcmahon life is screwed. I
can’t understand why Austin who could be in another angle is keeping with
this. Most importantly I hate both of the sorry jabonies and find all there
“little” issues boring. WWF is seriously bopping and bruising WCW on this
main angle and I for one am really pissed WCW is not getting the well
deserved wrestling coverage it should. Of course WCW has nothing to be
proud of either, the ultimate warrior/Hogan angle was not much of a
eye-popper for me. In the general fans it SUNK ROCK BOTTOM, no light
what so ever that is why odds are the warrior will not be back. This 4
horseman/Bitchoff (did I spell his name right) thing is something that I
actually enjoyed watching for about two weeks. Now I hate this just as much
as the Austin angle. Luckily the horseman/Bitchoff is fading progressively.
Here is a popular one Nash/Hall. This is the only one I show interest in but
now I just want a resolving finish. How bout Bret Hart/wolfpak--DDP let me
think. This seriously has potential, IF they make some logit twists and turns to
the whole PLOT.
Those are the main angles, so what could really improve wrestling in my mind....a PLOT. A plot with real intense wrestlers and yet a miserly devious thing to happening. That is the idol plot for me and many
experienced fans. So what would I like to see? Let me give you one off the
Top of my head I’ll pick two wrestlers......Al Snow/Mankind. Ok Al Snow
really thinks he is the “Extreme Wrestler” he think mankind is undeserving
because of course he is the J.O.B Squad of wrestling and he takes the most
punches from managment. So mankind refuses to give Snow a shot doesn’t
believe he really deserves it. Last for about two weeks of Al Snow interfering
in Mankind’s matches. At one occasion Al Snow Actually steals The Extreme
Belt and Beats Mankind over the head causing Mankind to take some action.
He challenges Al Snow to a Death/Blood Match. With all kinds of things set
up in a ring Tacs, Fire, Rocks ect. at the end of the paperview one of those
wrestlers win, so the Angle last about a month. Then each wrestler goes
another way leaving that angle in the past. Thats all that wrestling needs
before it takes off to another level, yes just like a movie or a book the true
PLOT makes everything.
