Aci Castello is a small village south of Acireale.

Aci Castello, like other villages in the area, takes it's name from the local river Aci, famed in Homeric myth.

The castle, which rises out of the sea, is of the thirteenth century.

The Scogli dei Cicopli, markers of an ancient land, can be seen in the distance.

According to Homeric myth they were said to have been thrown by the blinded Cyclops (Polyphemus) at the fleeing Ulyses.
