History |
Michael Intermeezo was born in Catanzano, Italy, on
September 28th 2346. He had a relatively Michael Intermeezo

a relatively quiet upbringing. His father, Cristoforo, was a
physician, while his mother, Gratiana was a school teacher.
Due to the close proximity of their town to a Starfleet
base on Sicily, Michael grew up watching the shuttles coming
and going and hoping one day he might be part of Starfleet.
Initially, his father was against Michael joining Starfleet.
He'd already counted on his on taking over the Medical
Practice Cristoforo ran in Catanzano. However, as Michael
grew into a young man, and his determination increased, the
man had to respect his son's wishes and allowed him to join
Starfleet Academy just before his 18th birthday.
Studying General duties and ethics in the first year,
Michael struggled to keep up with the work. His room-mate,
Bartholomew Burn, helped the young Italian to focus his mind
on his studies and enabled him to pass the first year third
in his class. The rest of his time at the Academy was
generally uneventful. At the end of the fourth year, he
graduated with honours and was offered a posting onboard the
USS Orion under Captain Samuel Silver.
Five
years later, Michael was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant
JG and offered the Chief Science Officer onboard the USS
Yamato-A. Although he was sad to be leaving the crew of
the Orion behind, this was one opportunity that he could not
refuse. It was during his five years onboard the
Yamato-A that his father passed away. He took the death
of his father badly, and almost resigned his commission. But
his mother convinced him to carry on with his career and to
make her proud.
In 2378 he transferred over to the
newly launched USS Great Endeavour. This move also
came with a promotion, and the promise that if he worked
consistently well, the chance for further promotion soon
afterwards. Two years later, he was encouraged by the
Commanding Officer, Captain Rachel Wayne, to take the Bridge
Officer's Examination. Upon passing the qualification,
Michael was made Executive Officer of the Great
Endeavour. He continued to fulfil his duties as Chief
Science Officer during this time also.
In 2384, aged
only 38, he was offered the XO position of the USS
Christopher Pike. Although this did not include any
Science related duties, he believed that his career would be
hurt if he didn't take the opportunity that had been given
to him. Working under Captain Reg'tukalaeth for just over 3
years, he impressed the Admiralty enough to offer Michael
his own ship; the newly launched USS Whitestar. |
