Gale and her husband, Joe, own Round Lake Buggy Works where they restore and build carts and carriages. Gale designs them, Joe does the hard part of building them.  Gale has been driving for more than half a century!  They have six horses including Haflinger Lila-Jane DHM (Aladdin van de Peelkant x Lily Dusty) pictured above.  Gale rides western, English, drives, jumps and gives lessons in those disciplines.  One of her fondest Haflinger memories was attending a Haflinger gathering in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and riding the Haflinger, Goldie, on the battlefield with more than 20 other Haflingers and their owners.  https://www.angelfire.com/or2/buggyworks

WHA Acting Vice President: Doug Stout

Term Ends: 2011

Treasurer: Doug Stout
Term Ends: 2012

Bend, oregon

Doug & Catherine Stout and their daughter Stephanie are so excited about the Haflinger breed that they formed a ranch dedicated to breeding top quality Haflingers.  Their  first Haflinger, Style M & B in 2000 has been the ultimate mountain horse for Doug.  So good that Doug uses him to lead WHA rides in the lovely Oregon Cascades at the Annual Campout--a ride that always sees the campground and corrals full of lovely Haflingers and happy campers.  The Stouts are totally impressed with the intelligence, personality, surefootedness and toughness of these wonderful horses.  http://www.royalhaflingerranch.com/

Sharon was appointed to fill an unexpired board term in 2010 and is beginning her first full term in 2011.  Sharon has loved horses all her life though she didn't get to start learning to ride until she was 28 and a mother.  Her first driving horse was her beloved Haflinger, Holly (Alleys Auzzie), by Tempel Farms-bred Spencer out of Ally NTF (Waro Van de Haflingerhoeve), who was Dutch-bred.  She's been a member of several breed and discipline organizations over the years.  She began serving on the WHA board last year.  Sharon says "Happy Haflingering!"

Director: Lorraine Waite

Term Ends: 2011

Empire, California

Lorraine is on her third term with the WHA board of directors and was previously the Newsletter editor.  She's a sharp cookie with the computer world and helped WHA get set up with Meebo in order to conduct board meetings on-line.  Lorraine has been a Haflinger fan since the late 1990s.   Lorraine pictured with her mare Summer.

Director: Lorraine Santi

Term Ends: 2012

 California

Lorraine bought her daughter a grade 13.2 hand Haflinger mare when she was six back in 1991.  Daughter Jillian bought her Haflinger, Starwars TOF, when she was 16 and has done trail riding and dressage ever since.  Lorraine however, was horseless herself.  She met a Haflinger, Ner TSH, called Nemo, on a group trail ride. She observed he was nice and quiet.  Said Lorraine,  "I thought if that horse ever came up for sale, I wanted him for me".  A little over a year later, Jillian was checking on Dreamhorse just to see what Haflingers were being sold and there was Nemo!  He had  only been on Dreamhorse 12 hours. The Santis immediately called on Nemo.  That was on Thanksgiving Day.  The woman held him for them until the next day and Nemo became Lorraine's personal mount. He was perfect and has remained perfect for her; a nice quiet, pretty well-behaved pony-sized Haflinger that is just right.

 Director: Marjorie Puckett

San Juan Island, Washington

Tucson, Arizona

"    She's a lucky lady living in the paradise of San Juan Island in the spring and summer and in the warm south in Tucson, Arizona, during the fall and winter.  Marjorie works with her horses daily in trail riding,  western, English, driving, showmanship and dressage.  "My Haffies help me keep a sense of humor and sunny outlook on life."  It must be the reflection from those gold coats. The owner of two Haflingers, Marjorie received the H.O.P.E. award in 2008. She and her gelding Mariko logged 340 hours in recreational riding. They show year round with Mariko winning the American Haflinger Registry Grand Champion Riding Division for 2008 with performance classes in English, Western, Dressage, Showmanship and Trail.  The also won the AHR award in tracking for recreation with for 2 years with combined hours of 1,121 hours.  They  will be winning it again for the 3rd straight year with an additional 484 hours for 2010.
