Sprout what???
Mood:  cheeky
I've been hearing about sprouting for a very long time.  I finally decided to do some research and find out what all the hoopla is about.  At first I was under the impression that sprouting was some way out crazy thing that the old hippies from the 60's did or maybe it was something the new age yuppies did.

I'm glad I finally got curious enough to find out what it really is.  It turns out it's a way to grow extremely nutritious foods very fast.

I’m starting on the journey of sprouting.  Today I ordered several lbs of various seeds to try.  Some of them are broccoli, sunflower, peas, beans, amaranth, radish, wheat, rye, quinoa, millet, kamut, and a few others.

I looked at various types of “sprouters” available.  They all seemed to be expensive pieces of molded plastic that I consider to be a waste of money (I reserve the right to change my mind after gaining some sprouting experience).  I finally settled on ordering a couple of screen tops to use with glass canning jars and a hemp "sprouting bag".  I hope the screen is a tight enough weave so the seeds don’t go pouring down the drain when I rinse them!  The tiniest seeds will probably work better in the bag.  Smile

As soon as it all arrives, I’ll be starting my sprouting experiments.  I’ll let you know which seeds I like best, which grow easier, and which just aren’t worth the time or trouble.  I’m hoping they all turn out to be delicious.
