My name is Victoria Bender.  I am a full time student at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. I am studying Communications and Secondary Education Earth and Space Science. I am currently working part-time as an assisnat manager at Maurices. I love my job and working with people. The experiences that  I have in the store are great as well as the connections with the customers. I also have a work-study position during the fall and spring semesters working at the Pitt-Johnstown switchboard. This is a great experience because it allows me to connect with anyone who calls the campus. I am expected to graduate in the Fall of 2014.

I am a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha. This allows me to help out in the community. I have volunteered for the Special Olympics since 2008. I volunteered for the Special Olympics prior to becoming a member of the sorority also. I have also volunteered at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen since 2010. This was a great experience.

At Maurices, we have what are known as Hometown Pride events. These are any event that we can volunteer our time, fundraising efforts, or resources to. Through the Hometown Pride events, I have volunteered for Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. This was a great experience because our Maurices team pulled the community together to make the event successful. Also, we have collected various items for various causes at the store.

I hope to pursue a career in teaching, but if that does not work out, I would like to further my education to either a masters degree or a doctorate in either one of my majors. I would like be successful in whatever I choose to do. I believe that people shold be treated fairly. I believe that moral rules should be followed and I believe that I will be successful if I treat people the way that I want to be treated.
