**Dedication For Our Beloved Dakota**
Dakota,You've given Us so many very happy times in your life with your"unconditional love" the warm looks you've given Us the licks of love. We know that you are fighting to stay with Us and we really appreciate all the things you've given Us.We shall never forget you my son. I know your Mother and I will miss you a great deal, as will your brother and sister. So when you hear God calling you, don't be afraid to go. We will understand and be strong for you. We love You Dakota very much.
**Personal Note**
Six years ago I came to Pittsburgh hoping to better my life from where I was, I met this great woman and her 2 dogs (Tiggar and Dakota). When I first met Dakota and Tiggar I was a bit leary of them. Dakota with his deep barking was intimidating to say the least, and I was afraid that my Buddy would not fit in. But we talked about it and I really liked Pittsburgh, so I went back to florida to gather my things and move north. It was hard to say the least for both Buddy and I to adjust in our new home at first, but I'd say maybe 3 weeks or a bit less Dakota this mean looking, deep barking dog accepted both Buddy and myself in his life. I made this page with the understanding that I fell in love with everything here in Pittsburgh, and as I write this I have tears falling from my face because I along with my room mate have the task of making a choice of a life we both find very near to our hearts. It's never a easy thing to do to say when it's time to give up, But I promise you Dakota if you don't give up, WE won't ever give up on you. When you say it's time We will accept your choice and let you walk through that "doggie door" in the sky. But our love will never go away from you, because you have given Us 9 years of happiness and fun when you were here..

As of today the medication that we have on Dakota seems to be failing and our lil guy is starting to be in a bit more pain we feel. After long sleepness nights on my part as well as my room mate we have made a choice that we think will be best for Dakota, we can see that the quality of life he's living now is not what it was a few weeks ago. Then the meds were working and he had more "pep" in his step. So we are gonna celebrate the holidays with him as we ask the Lord and our friends to pray for him. After the holidays we will take steps to have him put down and be where we know he'll be in a better place with less pain.
We love you very much Dakota and will miss you a great deal, but we feel this is best for him as we would never want you to be in pain.

Well to the friends We have online you may have noticed that neither of Us have been on much as of late. Reason being is that Our Dakota is now walking on 3 legs, yeah he's broke his leg we think or it's just become too painful to walk on it anymore. And after many hours of talking and sitting holding him and crying together we as a family have decided to no longer play "God" and we see that he (Dakota) is accepted the fact that he is no longer gonna be the dog he once was, it pains us to make a choice like we have to. But we can't just allow him to go any longer in pain. So this will be his last Christmas I think his sister and definately his brother also realize how ill he is cause all he wants to do is lay around, We have made plans with our Vet the day after Christmas to put him down and let the Lord have him. We know he'll be very well cared for, and although we love him very very much we would never want to extend his life anymore than we should with the pain his in, we'd like to extend thank you's to all that have extended well wishes to Us, and know that we will be strong through this as he would want Us to be, He was the best dog we have ever had in all the time we have been here. And a personal note to Roxanne both buddy and myself loved Dakota as if he was ours from the very first day you ever got him, We thank you Dakota and Tiggar for welcoming Us in your family 6 years ago. I know it really means alot to Buddy to have a brother and a sister and a permanent place to call "Home"

Today had to have been the toughest day for All of Us here. Dakota's last night was not very comforting as he showed signs of giving up. He is been a very true canine to Us and has fought everyday now since Labor Day when we first seen him limp. None of Us got much sleep as I think not just Dakota knew what was gonna happen, but our other dogs as well. We took him to the Vet today and first time, he was very reluctant to get out of the car. When we got there he fought the medication to relax him. He gave Us both love until his last breathe, We sast there holding him in our arms and even the staff from Vet's was in tears. I just wished there was more I personally could have done for him. We said a prayer for him and then he left Us. He will truly be missed, the house will not be the same. But we did what was best for him as he is now no longer in pain... I know if he could he'd thank Us for giving him a loving home.. Dakota if you can hear Us son, We love you a great deal and you will be missed a great deal. This tribute page will remain up no matter what. We'd like to thank our friends and the members of the "bone cancer" message board friends we made for all your prayers and kind words they will get Us through this difficult time. And a personal message to Roxanne from myself, 6 years ago tomorrow you welcomed Buddy and myself into your home, even though we are just room mate WE both thank you for allowing Us the chance to grow with Dakota and the rest of you, it means alot that Buddy has a home and a loving family.. Thank You.. Michael
