Please note: I sold this vehicle

on 9/25/07 to Mark-1, (301) 898 9444. He is a small VW dealer in Frederick, MD. He got it for $1,000--a nice deal for him.

I am seeking to sell a damaged 1995 Rialta (Winnebago) Recreational Vehicle. It is built on a Volkswagen Truck Eurovan chassis (VIN 1WVAE0701SH001727). The engine’s number one piston is broken and needs to be repaired. The vehicle still runs, but on four, not five cylinders. It has 68,000 miles. The VW dealership where I get it serviced wants to put a whole new engine in it. That would cost $6,000. I am convinced it could be done much cheaper just by replacing the piston. But I am not up to doing that type of work.

The vehicle belonged to my parents. It recently had the transmission replaced. Most of its many features work fine. It has a bathroom, stove, microwave, auxiliary generator, on-top air conditioner, two beds, eating table and seats seven. I have used it every few months for trips since my parents died, which was two years ago.

Besides the engine problem, some of the camping items on it I have fixed to my satisfaction but not to the standard that the new vehicle had. These include the panel that covers the spare tire and the side door lock. The swivel on the drivers seat needs to be repaired. Currently, the drivers seat does not swivel to face backwards. The refrigerator needs to be replaced. The front air-conditioner has a new compressor but needs repair. Recently the catalytic converter has been making rattling sounds. I priced a new one from NAPA at $200. I could put money in it and eliminate these problems, but it worked well enough for my parents and for me as is.

But the engine problem cannot be ignored. I am selling it as is. If it did not have the piston problem, I would be asking $10,000 to $15,000. As is, I am asking $4,000 obo and taking a beating. So far I have been offered $1,000 for it by a dealer in nearby Frederick, MD and $2,000 by CoLaw RV Salvage in Carthage, Missouri, if I want to drive it out there.
