I am a scopist who provides auditing and proofreading services to court reporters.

I use CaseCATalyst 4, version 14.

My grammar reference bible is Morson's English Guide for Court Reporters. I also use The Gregg Reference Manual.

I read Pheonix Theory Steno fluently.

I am accustomed to scoping with full audio. My rates are competitive.

Why contact me?

Simply because I LOVE MY JOB! Scoping is like a big word game to me and it is fun.

It's true that some jobs are so boring that I would like to bang my head against the wall for some stimulus; but having said that, there's still the fun of the word game. That's why I call myself, The Happy Scopist!

MY STORY:

I read over and over again that court reporters have a hard time finding reliable scopists to do work for them. I myself am a product of this frustration. A court reporter was tired of going through listings for scopists and inevitability being disappointed with their work. She contacted me just as I was starting my training to be a scopist. I had intended to study online classes for training. She encouraged me to let her train me herself to be a scopist. I gladly accepted her offer and began working for her immediately. I learned on the fly, and I must say that it was brutal; but I am so grateful to her for her patience and tutoring. I believe she made me a better scopist than I ever would have become if I had just taken online schooling. I don't know the work that other scopist do; I just know that my court reporter was happy with me. I worked exclusively for her until she retired court reporting to raise her family.
