WHY THIS SITE EXISTS:
I have been a participant on many forums and panels, particularly ones that deal with religion and spirituality. On many occasions, I have seen teenagers attempt to ask questions about religion, only to be treated with unspeakable rudeness. People make fun of them for asking questions, criticize their grammar and spelling, or attempt to preach at them without even listening to what they have to say.
If a young person expresses interest in a non-mainstream religious path, they're often told in hysterical tones that they're going to Hell, or that they're simply being "rebellious" or "going through a phase". Imagine saying such a thing to a 50-year-old, and you'll see how ridiculous it sounds to say it to anyone. At times, the questioners are lambasted simply for being teens, as if being a teenager weren't difficult enough without someone belittling them for it.
The condescending attitude toward teenage spirituality has got to stop. It stops here and now.
On this website, I hope to give straightforward information to young seekers. Of course, you don't have to be a teenager to use this site. It's open to seekers of all ages, but I'd like to extend a special welcome to teens. I all too vividly remember my own acute frustration during my teen years, when it seemed that all of my questions about religion ended up with someone either forcing their beliefs upon me, or shouting at me that it wasn't my place to ask questions.
