Fionna can forgive Marshall Lee easily, but sometimes there are moments when she doesn't think she can.

And those moments when she hesitates to condone the antics of the Vampire King is when he causes a mistake. The mistake is horrible that the blonde looks at her friend differently. She knows he has a fondness of flirting with her, but apparently he doesn't know when it is proper to stop the fooling when the situation seems to get heavy.

That is the moment when Fionna doesn't think she can forgive him. At that moment he nearly gives her a heart attack with the spear in his chest. At that moment he plays with her yet again and demands her to admit she loves him. Never has he seen a more 'serious person' in his life. He says it's all a bluff while showing the cream puff in his chest, and then she laughs while still crying.

The hit she makes hurts, but at least she knows that his 'death' was intentional to only scare her. She discovers he is only joking, but it's not a funny one. Marshall Lee thinks he can give her a few hours to get over it, but the next day she is still angry with him. He doesn't know what to do and feels ashamed of himself when he turns to Cake for help. Rolling her eyes is her partial answer, but she pulls him aside and whispers a plan.

The Vampire King claims it's ridiculous and there is no possible way he would ever do something like that, but when the cat threatens him about their friendship he feels his chest tighten in fear. He never fears and it compels him to at least give this plan a little effort.

He doesn't think he will ever go out in public after this. Marshall Lee feels his face heating, like he is standing next to a fire. Perhaps magma is running through his veins when he knocks at the door of his old home. Dressed in a tight and itchy suit with an umbrella blocking out the sunlight, he curses Cake for making him do this in broad daylight.

For once his hair is combed back and he actually appears proper and prim, although he cannot move a muscle in this suit. This is not him and he is ready to tear away all of this, but then he remembers this if for Fionna's sake and bites back the anger. When the door opens he flashes a crooked smile that twitches.

The smile is uneasy and seems very awkward. Fionna stands there in confusion, but she is only given less than ten seconds to clutch her stomach and laugh. The Vampire King notices tears from her eyes from laughing hard and he feels the humiliation crawling back to him. Cake suggested that he offers her to a date while dressed like this. He now knows what the cat has done to him.

There was no such thing as the date, it is all part of a plan to only degrade him so Fionna can have a good laugh and actually forgive him. He hisses at Cake who is also laughing, but before he can storm off, he feels a familiar warm hand grasp his cold one. He turns and sees Fionna smiling slightly.

"Thanks," she mumbles. It's enough to set him off and he feels the impulse to keep that smile on her face and perhaps even make her laugh. He pulls his face together as if he is furious, but instead he makes a face and Fionna gasps. She laughs again and even the Vampire King is.

He is never the kind to admit anything, but he will admit to himself that he likes her laugh. He likes her smile. He likes her. Marshall Lee immediately chokes and stops laughing when the thought occurs to him. While the other two are still distracted and laughing he is frozen to the spot. He realizes what he has just thought and feels something strange inside him stir.

He glances at Fionna as she wipes a tear away. Does he dare think that she is cute? He vigorously shakes his head and cracks a grin that reveals his row of sharp fangs. When they settle down he brushes off his thought and says he needs to be somewhere, although it is a lie. Fionna is confused along with Cake, but they see him float rather hastily back to his own way. When he is home he rips of his jacket and immediately takes the suit off.

Throwing the umbrella off to the side roughly he changes to his normal attire that seem uncomfortable for the first time. He jumps on bed and cannot distract himself. He knows what he has thought of and knows he will never be able to forget it.

He doesn't think he will ever be able to see Fionna the same again. They are friends, but when he thinks he likes her he can't look at her as a friend anymore. He assumes that it will fade off sooner or later and forces to let sleep take over him.

Fionna thinks she can forgive him this time, even if he does appear rather stupid in that suit.

Marshall Lee the Vampire King doesn't exactly remember how long it has been since he approached Fionna in that absurd suit.

He swears he is going to get back at Cake...but the trail of revenge stops when he is reminded it was thanks to her that Fionna can actually become comfortable around him once more. Although having his friendship in crisis did not make him learn from his mistake he still goes back to teasing the girl. He cannot hide it that he loves doing this to Fionna.

If he will call it anything it's that it is one of his favorite leisure activity or perhaps it's called pleasurable pastime. Having her become irritated is his amusement. When he thinks he likes her he only says he likes her as his friend, not as a little puppy crush. It makes him relieved for that moment and he goes back to his old habits. He may have no heart but he knows better to consider others feelings...well he knows how to value Fionna's feelings.

After all, she is the only closest friend he has. The thought of caring for a human almost makes him laugh at himself, and maybe even sentimental, but she is his friend, so there really is nothing to worry about.

It isn't normal for vampires to befriend humans; their relationship is different, though. Everyone knows the diet of vampires, blood. But Marshall Lee promises Fionna that he doesn't drink blood. He'd rather drink the color of anything red, literally. Although he grows angry when the blonde girl teases him that he should eat tomatoes, he still laughs.

If there is one thing Fionna should know about him is that he refuses to eat tomatoes. Yes, they are red, but he'd rather not eat them. The Vampire doesn't like to get into detail and pushes away the thought. He then remembers that Fionna and Cake had invited him for a party with a few others. He has to say that he'd rather not be with everyone else, especially since Prince Gumball will be there.

It's not that he hates the prince. To Marshall Lee, Gumball is just like Fionna is to him. He likes to tease him. He won't admit it, but he really just wants to be friends with the pink prince. He doesn't even know why the prince hates him, but it is what it is.

And so when he arrives at the party he meets none other than the prince himself. While Gumball glares and avoids him Marshall Lee laughs his signature laugh and begins what he is best at: teasing him. When Fionna comes into the picture she gives the vampire a strange look and backs away when Marshall Lee asks what's the matter.

Shaking her head is all what she does and goes running to Cake. The Vampire King and Prince glance at one another in confusion. How strange for the girl to look at Marshall Lee like he is something disgusting. It makes him frown and he immediately feels like an idiot. While everyone else is having fun the vampire boy sits back and watches Fionna chatting with others.

Soon Cake makes her way towards him and he just sighs. She pats him comfortingly and says it's alright to feel this way. Marshall Lee knits his eyebrows together in puzzlement.

"What?" he questions. All Cake does is repeat what she says earlier. The Vampire King shrugs away her paw and asks what is she talking about. The cat sighs and says it's alright to be gay. It hits Marshall Lee like a bat and it hurts rather badly. Fionna thinks he is gay because of how he teases Prince Gumball. Oh, is he going to get Fionna. He fumes, but then bursts into laughter.

He explains to Cake that he just loves to mess around with everyone, not only the pink prince. Realization comes to Cake as well and she shakes her head. What has she done? She goes over to the blonde and reasons with her making Fionna blush just like the hue of a ripe tomato. She looks over at Marshall Lee and smiles sheepishly as an apology.

The vampire sicks out his tongue and flies over to her. He tells her that it's okay with nonchalance, but then he pulls a horrifying face and chases after the girl. Fionna laughs, still trying to rid that she thought Marshall Lee was gay.

Although Marshall Lee is angry at the girl for assuming something so ridiculous he forgives her, just as she has done when he played that joke. He is irritated to the marrow and declares he'll get back at her. An idea comes to his mind and he thinks of scaring her in other ways, ways that will drive her over the edge. He doesn't know how to explain how much he loves playing with this girl.

When Fionna is distracted he takes the moment and strikes. Whether it's actually scaring her or playing pranks he laughs when she glares at him. He tells her to lighten up and to enjoy her time at the party and so she smiles and does what he says.

"Fionna...Fionna!" Marshall screamed as he thrashed around in his sleep.

Cake lets her mouth pull into a smile at the sight of them.

"FIONNA!" he gave one last scream and woke up. He stared up at the ceiling for a bit, fear in his eyes, but then he returned to being his regular self and groaned loudly.

He didn't bother getting out of his PJs, and flew to the kitchen, bumping into almost everything in front of him, due to lack of sleep. He opened the fridge groaned again. One apple left. He drank the color out of it and threw it in the direction of the trash can. It was thrown a bit too hard and a bit too high, so the colorless, shriveled apple splattered against the wall. Marshall groaned, and got a napkin to clean up his mess.

He flew to his room and got dressed, flew back out and watched Heat Signature 3, floating a couple inches above the rock hard couch. When the movie was done, Marshall looked up at the roof and sighed. He had a headache.

Gumball was dating Fionna. Or rather, Fionna was dating Gumball. He didn't even do anything to stop it. He didn't approve of it. He didn't even go outside anymore. He would just watch the ceiling, entertaining himself with white.

"Why can't I tell her how I feel?"

"Why can't I just tell her that I love her?"

"Why?"

He groaned, got up and punched the wall, making a hole.

"UGH!" he groaned.

He stopped flying, put his back to the wall, and slid down slowly.

And started to cry.

"NO! Vampires don't cry. Vampires don't cry..." he said, sobbing softly, unable to help it.

He felt like punching a wall. So, he opened the door, went outside, and punched the cave wall, making his knuckles bleed.

He didn't stop.
