Find Pregnancy Symptoms While On Depo Provera in Questions
Why am I having pregnancy symptoms while on Depo provera? I've been on Depo Provera for almost a year now. And I've stopped getting my period. See the first several months that I've used depo I got my period every 2 months (exactly every two months). Now that I have had sex with my boy friend in late december til mid January. My last period was November 17-21, and I was expecting my next period the next two months which was in January, but now its been three months, the month of February is about over and still no period. I've had the diarrhea, headaches, fatique, abdominal cramps, nausea, missed period and mood swings. Any advice, or experiences...? Also I've been urinating even more often than usual, and very hungry...

banks replied: "You should take a pregnacy test to be sure you are not pregnant. The problem with birth control is that it messes with your hormones which can fluctuate. If you are not pregnant, call your doctor and check the symptoms by him."

Cindy S replied: "depo tricks your body into thinking you are pregnant, i was on it for 18m months and i always felt pregnant and italked to my doc and he told me that it was very normal and not to worry. But if you are really concerned then talk to your doctor"

heraradia replied: "Depo has a tendency to stop your period, but if your worried that you may be pregnant.....TAKE A TEST!.!.!.!."

Samantha M replied: "I was on the depo shot for 2 years and never got a period. Don't quote me on this but doesn't depo trick your body into thinking you are pregnant and that is why you don't have a period?"

Depo- Provera or pregnancy symptoms? I feel cold like symptoms And I heard a lot of women feel this in early pregnancy. Could I be pregnant, or are these just symptoms of the depo provera shot I just got? By the way: I was not on my period when I got this shot, and the doctor said that she usually gives it while women are on their period.

Mrs. Lion replied: "you could be getting a cold"

Can you get pregnant while taking depo-provera? I've being having pregnancy symptoms.? voimting migraines mood swings

ruspecialenuf replied: "I DID!!!! im 30 weeks now!!!"

electa g replied: "My friend got pregnant while taking depo-Vera.You should take a pregnancy test and see your doctor"

dreamweaver219 replied: "well, those are symptoms that can be caused by the shot. And even though you may not have a period, you may still get the symptoms from that as well. But, yes, you can get prego from it...i have 2 "depo-provera" nieces. lol check with your doc. make sure you are not prego."

E replied: "Yes although the chances are slim if taken correctly but still very possible. I was on it for 4 years with no problems and then had trouble getting pregnant after coming off of it. Everyone is different though. You might want to get a test! Good luck!"

daview1234 replied: "could be a reaction or pregnancy my lady experienced troble like spotting and migranes never vomited but had nasua good luck"

lamikashi replied: "I don't think so ur proboaly just reacting to the hormone in ur birth control. But b4 u get ur next shot they should give u a pregnancy test"

socialwork2010 replied: "Are you on any antibiotics that might make it less effective? How long have you been on it? Have you ever received your shot a little late (there is only a fifteen day window every three months that you can receive it)?? Take an at-home pregnancy test or go to Planned Parenthood for a test!"

jello replied: "Could be prego - take a test - the only birth control that's 100% is abstinence (which isn't quite as much fun). How long have you been on depo? If you're new to depo-provera, it could be your body just adjusting to the birth control in your system."

krmzjt21 replied: "yes take a test then see a doctor"

♥ Princess ♥ replied: "Hi Honey, here are some symptoms of pregnancy, check them and then see your doctor Tender, swollen breasts One of the early signs of pregnancy is sensitive, sore breasts caused by increasing levels of hormones. The soreness may feel like an exaggerated version of how your breasts feel before your period. Your discomfort should diminish significantly after the first trimester, as your body adjusts to the hormonal changes. Fatigue Feeling tired all of a sudden? No, make that exhausted. No one knows for sure what causes early pregnancy fatigue, but it's possible that rapidly increasing levels of the hormone progesterone are contributing to your sleepiness. You should start to feel more energetic once you hit your second trimester, although fatigue usually returns late in pregnancy when you're carrying around a lot more weight and some of the common discomforts of pregnancy make it more difficult to get a good night's sleep Nausea or vomiting If you're like most women, morning sickness won't hit until about a month after conception. (A lucky few escape it altogether.) But some women do start to feel queasy a bit earlier. And not just in the morning, either — pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting can be a problem morning, noon, or night. About half of women with nausea feel complete relief by the beginning of the second trimester. For most others it takes another month or so for the queasiness to ease up. Increased sensitivity to odors If you're newly pregnant, it's not uncommon to feel repelled by the smell of a bologna sandwich or cup of coffee and for certain aromas to trigger your gag reflex. Though no one knows for sure, this may be a side effect of rapidly increasing amounts of estrogen in your system. You may also find that certain foods you used to enjoy are suddenly completely repulsive to you. Abdominal bloating Hormonal changes in early pregnancy may leave you feeling bloated, similar to the feeling some women have just before their period arrives. That's why your clothes may feel snugger than usual at the waistline, even early on when your uterus is still quite small. Frequent urination Shortly after you become pregnant, you may find yourself hurrying to the bathroom all the time. Why? Mostly because during pregnancy the amount of blood and other fluids in your body increases, which leads to extra fluid being processed by your kidneys and ending up in your bladder. This symptom may start as early as six weeks into your first trimester and continue or worsen as your pregnancy progresses and your growing baby exerts more pressure on your bladder. A missed period If you're usually pretty regular and your period doesn't arrive on time, you'll probably take a pregnancy test long before you notice any of the above symptoms. But if you're not regular or you're not keeping track of your cycle, nausea and breast tenderness and extra trips to the bathroom may signal pregnancy before you realize you didn't get your period. Your basal body temperature stays high If you've been charting your basal body temperature and you see that your temperature has stayed elevated for 18 days in a row, you're probably pregnant Good luck. *-*"

Getting pregnant while on depo provera? I had my first depo shot on Oct. 3, 2008. I had a period that started on nov. 15 and lasted 3 weeks. I did not go back for my second shot because of the side effects it caused me. I have been having some pregnancy symptoms. Has anyone gotten pregnant while on depo provera?

ellasmommyX2 replied: "You may have gotten pregnant right after being taken off the depo....It does happen though but you should test before you start to worry. You may just be getting ready for a period. Pregnancy symptoms are like PMS symptoms."

Laura D replied: "They say it can take an average ov about 18 months i think it is to get pregnant after your last depo provera shot.... how ever i managed to somehow get pregnant only 8 weeks after my last shot. was due to get my next one at 12 weeks. But iv got a beautiful daughter now... and i wouldn't be with her :) all the best."

Can you be pregnant while on the depo provera shot? I had sexual intercourse but the condom broke and this happened the same week that I got the shot. I am also having all the pregnancy symptoms but I don't know if I am pregnant or not.

laughingtiger82 replied: "when i first started getting the shot, my doctor told me that it could take up to two weeks to become fully effective and to make sure to have protected sex during that time. it's possible you could be pregnant. if i were you, and this accident happened yesterday or the day before, i'd go get some plan b."

mom2 replied: "Of course you could be pregnant. However, because the Depo-shot is a shot of Progesterone, it causes symptoms in your body that it is in a state of perpetual pregnancy. I was on Depo-provera for 9 months after I had my first baby. It made me gain back 15 pounds, and caused me to go crazy. I mean it actually made me suicidal, and made me think things that I never would have thought of before. And, it definitely wasn't post-partum issues, because I was joyful about my baby, and was confused as to why I would have flashes of crazy. I also had a girlfriend who took Depo-provera for 5 years, and has never been pregnant, but always had the symptoms, including lactating frequently. This form of birth control is bad, and I would recommend getting on to something else. I know it seems easier, and less expensive, but it totally isn't worth putting your body through all that. Think about switching to something more in line with what your hormones should be naturally. Once I realized that it wasn't me it was the shot, I stopped using all forms of birth control (I was married and ok with being pregnant if it happened), and I lost 35 lbs. in less than 3 months and the crazy feeling went away. Best wishes to you."

pregnancy on depo provera? i am on the depo-provera shot and i have been on it since august. it is now october and i have been having unprotected sex since i got the shot. i have had MANY symptoms of being pregnant and i just FEEL pregnant for some reason. and when on this birth control shot, you arent 'supposed' to bleed but you can? i dont really understand that but.. so, like i said, i got the shot and august and have not bled any untill last week. i bled for four days. lighter than my normal period has ever been and i also had severe pains in below my bellybutton and i also had sharp pains when i walked, moved, etc. my normal period cramping is never anything like that. but for the past few weeks i have had frequent urination. i have never had to urinate this much before, ever. and also, i am constantly hungry and very thirsty. when i eat spicy food my stomach tends to get very upset like a burning feeling behind my ribs and stomach and very nausiated. and i have some constipation and diarrea at times and alot of gas. i have some crampng in my lower stomach, but you can barely feel them. also, i have some backaches and if i sit for a while my butt starts to ache. i have been so tired and i go to sleep so early and have been for the past few weeks. and alot of time after i eat, i feel so full and really bloated. but i feel bloated pretty much all day long. morning sickness comes and go; not much though. it usually only hits me at night, only once or twice when i first wake up, and sometimes after i eat. i'm not throwing up, but it is nausiated and i read that is counted as 'morning sickness' also, if i sit indian style, like right now- my hip starts to ache on one side. sometimes, like in the shower i feel very faint and sometimes lose my balance. i had somewhat of a cold (runny nose, head stopped up, & coughing) & i read that sometimes comes with pregnancy. i need help figuring this out. thanks. also, i do have sore breasts. not all over, just underneath & on the sides of my armpits. they are very sore. its weird because on the left side it hurts more to touch underneath my armpit, but on the right side its pretty equal. what could be the cause of that??

pussnboots71908 replied: "its possible. take a test or go see your dr, maybe you are pregnant or you cannot tolerate the depo, i would see your dr there might be something else going on as well. but all your symptoms i had when i got pregnant. also your iron levels could be down..best bet see your dr good luck"

yessy replied: "Yeah it could be that you are pregnant. I got pregnant on the patch... That was a total shocker! Take a home pregnancy test, if that doesn't help, go see a Dr. There might be something else going on... Take Care..."

Elora Ann 12/27 replied: "When I had the Depo shot I had similar symptoms, now I am not saying you can not be pregnant, all I am saying is what I experienced, when I brought my symptoms up to my doctor he said that depo has synthetic hormones that MAY delay or stop your periods all together. Also this surge in hormones can trick you body into feeling pregnant. You can get the bloating, hunger, morning sickness etc that mimic pregnancy but it is your body dealing with an increased hormone. It took a few months and I started feeling normal again. As for the hunger be careful, depo is known to make women gain a significant amount of weight while using this birth control. I had to stop gettin the shot because I gained 45 pounds in the first year and a half. As for the feeling of light headed that can also be a reaction to the shot. The only thing I can tell you for sure is talk to your doctor and they always do a pregnancy test before they see you while on depo. The depo can do alot of things to your body."

Depo Provera Pregnancy? I got the Depo shot in April of this year, and did not get a period during that month. In late May, I had a 3 week period, but it stopped. Then, during June, I was on anti-biotics for 2 weeks because of an UTI infection. Now, lately I've been experiencing pregnant like symptoms. (Headaches, back aches, stomach pain.) Through the whole time I've been on the shot, I've been having sex without a condom with my boyfriend. Is it possible for me to be pregnant, or am I worrying over nothing? Also, has anyone ever become pregnant while on the shot? (I don't want answers from someone who was off schedule either.) Thanks.

mandatheloon replied: "It is possible to get pregnant while on hormonal birth control. And, antibiotics can lessen the efficacy of hormonal birth control. There is a chance that you could be pregnant. You might consider taking a home pregnancy test to find out for sure."

Can you get pregnant while on the Depo Provera Shot? I had my baby 2 months ago and I didnt get my period cause I was still bleeding from giving birth. I had my period in July but I didnt get my period in August. I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. Ever since about 2 weeks ago Ive felt something move inside my stomach but I dont have any pregnancy symptoms. I did have unprotected sex since the shot works for three months and I got it when I left the hospital and Im scheduled for my next shot next week. What could be happening?

*Mommy Bimbo* replied: "No the shot stops ovulation"

jessiekay replied: "Im not sure but that's pretty weird. I know someone who was on the depo for 6 months and was pregnant the whole time and got negative pregnancy tests. They should test you again before you get the next shot i would bring it up before you get it so maybe they can do the blood test. I have taken the depo before as well it caused alot of problems for me."

Ava Lynn born 8-4-09 replied: "you are feeling gas because regardless you just gave birth two months ago and you wont feel a baby move inside of you until around 5 to 4 months along. you didnt get a period because the shot can stop your period. but yes you can always get pregnant with any birth control they are not 100%."

being pregnant while on depo provera? I know many people who have had babies while on the depo shot. I currently believe I am pregnant. I have almost all the symptoms. I am up to date on my shot. I got it in July and I'm not due for it again until October. It is now September and I strongly believe that I am pregnant. I also have not had my period the entire time I have been on the shot. I don't really know if a pregnancy test will work while on the shot.

shermiegyrl replied: "Call your doctor. You need to have a pregnancy test run, right away. If you are pregnant, you and your doctor can discuss the best way to proceed from there. Lack of a period is not a good indicator of whether or not you are pregnant. Hormonal birth control either stops your periods alltogether or causes you to have "false" periods on a certain schedual."

Heather R replied: "See a doctor for a pregnancy test, the tests you buy at home have a good chance of being wrong because of the chemicals they use. I also got pregnant while on the depo provera shot and miscarried at 16 weeks. My doctor did not attribute this to being on the depo shot when I got pregnant however... this can give you some good info Good luck!"

ஐ♥Julian'sMommy♥ஐ replied: "I do not know of anyone that has gotten pregnant while on the shot (but i guess it can happen) I was on the depo shot for 3 1/2 years and we never used any other form of birth control and i didn't get pregnant. I think it is the best form of birth control. I did not have my period the entire time i was on the shot, yes for 3 1/2 years. If your pregnant take a pregnancy test, it will show up if you are. The shot will not affect a pregnancy test."
