Senior Master Sergeant Carlton B. Ross

Senior Master Sergeant Carlton B. Ross is the Aerospace Science Instructor, Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, Tucker High School, Tucker, GA. He joined the AFJROTC instructor staff on 1 July 2002. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. He retired from the Air Force after serving 26 years, 9 months, and 26 days as a military police, C-130, and C-131 loadmaster.

 

SMSgt Ross served as the Operation Group Loadmaster Functional Manager who was responsible for assignment and management go 86 loadmasters in the Air Force’s largest C-130 Formal Training Unit (FTU). Supervises flight and ground evaluation activities of 24 flight examiners.  Develop and implements tactical and proficiency written examinations, unit periodic exams and administers aircrew qualification evaluations.  Evaluated trends to improve aircrew training and ensure a quality force for safety operations of 44 C-130 aircraft worth $1.4 billion.  Oversees the execution of 360 annual flight evaluations including 86 permanent party, all USAF, joint sevice, and 27 allied countries’ initial C-130 qualification, mission, and instructor students.  Ensures compliance with established joint policies and serves as the functional expert for preparing supplements to higher headquarters’ directive and local area procedures. The focal point for all wing and MAJCOM issues affecting the enlisted force structure, and tactical training.

 

As Aerospace Science Instructor, he is responsible for teaching young men and women at Tucker High School.
