Washington DC, or the District of Columbia, is the capitol of the United States of America. There are many interusting things to do in washington DC, such as visiting monuments, museums, and various government buildings.

  1. Arlington National Cemetary

    Arlington National cemetary is a cemetary for war heroes of the US.Over 4 million people visit it each year. Many attend graveside services or special events here. Many just go to see where many famous presidents and war heroes lie.

    Arlington national Cemetary is located across the Potomac river from washington DC at the west end of the memorial bridge in Arlington, Virginia.

  2. DC War Memorial

    The DC War Memorial, or the District of Columbia War Memorial is there so we never forget the 26,000 citezens of DC that served in WWI. It is located on the National Mall, west of 17th Street and Independence Avenue.

    It is the only memorial on the national mall dedicated to local residents. At the base, there is a plaque with the names of 499 Washingtonians who lost their lives in World War I. It was dedicated in 1931 on Armistace Day.

    It has been 30 years since any work had been done to it, but the American Recovery and Reinvenstment act of 2009 had dedicated $7.3 million to the restoration of this monument.

  3. FDR Memorial

    The FDR Memorial is dedicated to Franklin D. Roosevelt for leading the USA through the Great Depression and World War II. It is spread over 7.5 acres and includes several statues, waterfalls, and quotes.

    It is located at 1850 West Basin Drive, Washington DC.

  4. Washington Monument

    The Washington Monument is a memorial to the nations first president, and is on of DC's most prominent landmarks. It is the tallest structure in DC, standing at a whopping 555' 5 1/8". Fifty flags souround the base of it, symbolizing the 50 states.

    It is located at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 15th Street.
