Serie A Pool
Italian Serie A Pool 2011/2012 Scudetto Champions: Young Girls Burn F.C. -- Italian Serie A Pool 2011/2012 Coppa Italia Champions: N.N. Bastardo's Castagne

DOSSENA ROUNDS UP THE CATTLE AS YGB TAKE THE PLAUDITS!!!
NOT ON THE PATIO AT SECOND CUP...YET!!! - Well the Serie A Pool season has finally come to an end and what an ending it was. La Gazzetta dello Sport is calling it "the most exciting finish to a season since the 1876-77 season when Pierpaolo Zizzolini beat Stu Cazz on a last second goal to win the Helder Postigggggs No Dress Code Invitational". Yes folks, the 2011/12 season came down to the last day where Young Girls Burn came out of the 38 week slugfest and were crowned champions after coming back from a seemingly impossible deficit to defeat the N.N. Bastardo Castagne and win their 1st Scudetto in club history. Young Girls Burn took care of their business as they shutout The Mack Tatus thanks to a goal from future Pool Hall of Famer Pippo Inzaghi in what is likely his last appearance in the pool. The win was important but the Young Girls still needed the Castagne to falter in their matchup against Stroke City. And falter they did as Stroke City upset the Castagne after Andrea Dossena put his name on the tongue of every pool member as his first brace in his Serie A career ended the Castagne's dream of claiming their 2nd Scudetto. The name of Dossena was heard being screamed around all of Etobicoke and at a condo in Downtown Toronto as his goals will forever be linked to "May 13th: the day the Castagne were chased by a Champions League playing truck and ran into the park". Stroke City were also aided by one last Alessandro Del Piero goal as he will most likely join the long list of players such as Dario Hubner, Federico Cossato and Enrico Chiesa as players who helped make this pool what it is today. Check out the forum in the coming days as exclusive pictures of the events of Sunday will be posted along with interviews with the protagonists as we look to give you, the people, an in depth look into the madness that was Sunday afternoon. The .gif posted at the top of this update is what we imagine the first encounter between the two teams after the events of Sunday looked like. Classy as always. So as I said the Castagne failed to lock up the scudetto crown, but they can take solace in the fact they won the Coppa Italia after beating Team Spite by a 13 point margin. We are sure that Coppa must taste like espresso that's been heated up for the second time: it just ain't the same thing as when it's freshly brewed. 3rd Place went to CSKA Rasputin as they capped off their highest ever league position with a loss to A.C. Morning Wood. Despite the loss, the owner of CSKA has promised to celebrate the achievement by party rocking in the near future (most of the summer) which means clothing will be at a minimum as they are believed to be "overrated". Team Spite closed out a solid season as they finished tied for the 4th spot after beating Ganja Linguine who are close to being acquired by new ownership which is believed to be Frano. The Board of Directors are close to finalizing that deal; we look forward to his participation in the pool and wish him the best of luck in turning around the Phoenix Coyotes of the league. And in the final game of the weekend One Tree Hill F.C. defeated Jersey Shore Calcio to close out the year and put the final dolphin punch in the 2011/12 Serie A Pool Season. So the Pool is over...for now anyways as trades are always possible. A season review will be posted soon so be sure to check the page for that. Rosters and finances have been updated for your viewing pleasure. And as we bring a close to this season we would just like to say thank you to everyone for making this season memorable. We hope that you all recharge your batteries, enjoy your summer, enjoy the Euros and come back energized for Year 4 of the Serie A Pool Phase 2. If you have any questions or concerns you know who to contact. So until then take care you 8/9 readers and remember this piece of information: one can of Mango Vodka Rockstar contains 31g of sugar. The recommended daily serving is 40g of sugar per person per day. Therefore we do not recommend that you indulge in 5-6 cans in one day during the heat of the summer. You won't die, but looking back on last summer a lot of things are explained after analysing this piece of information. However if you happen to fall under its sweet influence, well...enjoy it and by god we salute you. Cheerio!
