Topic: Our gorgeous boy is here!

Quick entry - At 1am on 14.11.08 Sammie's waters finally broke and she went into labour.  At 3am we welcomed our gorgeous baby boy into our family - Daniel Alexander Jameson, 7lb 2oz - natural birth.    Mother and baby both fine.

Birth story coming up later on.

Topic: It could be tonight.....

Hi everyone reading this - it's Alex here.

We think that tonight could be the night that Sammie goes into full labour, as she has been experiencing more bad contractions most of yesterday  and today.

We called the labour suite to ask when we should come in.  The midwife told us that when the waters actually break, or if they haven't and Sammie is in more pain, then to go straight in (the waters will be broken in there).   I have to say that I am just so proud of her at the moment as she is coping really well despite the pain she must be in.

All the bags are packed ready for the hospital, so its just a case of waiting....

Mood:  don't ask
Topic: midwife visit to home

OK, we were meant to go to the midwife today but she came to visit instead, which I found really helpful as I am now starting to feel so heavy, tired and uncomfortable (very big and tight belly).

I said I was now getting stronger contractions, which were making me feel really uncomfortable.  She pressed and poked the bump, when she was checking it over and I was told that I have started to dilate - about 1cm so far but the baby was showing no signs of coming as yet (and waters still intact).  I think it's going to be really stubborn and keep us waiting a little longer!

I was told to have complete rest for the next few days, which I intend to do.    Gee, these contractions are really sore when they come - I just hope that the baby decides to arrive on Friday (due date) or before then as, even though I have loved being pregnant, I am so over it now.

Only 3 days to go...... cant wait to be a mum.  Hope the next entry will be the birth story.

Mood:  irritated
Topic: 39 weeks and counting

Ok, so another entry at 39 weeks pregnant.  I feel so irritated as I am just so big and fat with a very active baby and want it to be all over with NOW.

This will be a very short entry as I am away back to bed as didn't sleep much last night and I'm starting to feel the contractions a lot more but they're not too painful. I feel that I could go into labour at anytime - possibly tonight or tomorrow?  I hope I hold out until Tuesday's midwife visit but we'll see.

Anyway I am away to severely waddle back to bed.... See you all later!

My bump from 38 weeks to baby!

this week
Mood:  a-ok

Ok this will probably be the only blog entry on here whilst I'm pregnant, as I'm now 39 weeks gone, with my first.

So here is what we've been up to this week.  It's been pretty hectic as we've been getting everything all together and organised for the arrival of the new baby on Friday 14 November 08.

It's mostly been going out doing last minute shopping in the supermarket for food etc.  It must have been fun for the other shoppers to see such a heavily pregnant woman waddling about, who looked as if she was "about to pop"  - which it did feel like! Oh and also busy getting the bags packed and ready for the hospital stay.

As well as all that, we had the last check up with the midwife.  She couldn't believe how big the bump had grown within a week.  The good news was that we were told that the babys head has now fully engaged and is in position to be born.  It's also a good size and weight (about 7- 8lbs).  Even though I am now carrying lower down, I still get kicked and punched as it's still very active!.

I said that I was feeling a bit uncomfortable as I was having really sore and strong braxton hicks, or so I thought.  I was put on a monitor for 20-30 minutes to check and was told that I wasn't experiencing BH, but I was showing signs of having mild contractions, which is nothing to worry about too much, as I've not started to dilate.    We thought that would be the last midwife visit, but we have another one on Tuesday 11 Nov, since I have started to get contractions and also so she can check if I have started to dilate or not (and also because of the size of the baby).

So that's whats been happening until we go back to the midwife on Tuesday.
