In 2007 the parish council at long last gave the local residents a site where allotments could be built. It had only been on the cards for the last 15 years! Better late than never as they say..
This is the site as it looked in 2007. This heavy, dense clay soil (if you can even clasify it as soil).

Water at last
Parish council had contractors install a water trough literaly next to the plot. Travel distance from water to plot... oh, I'd say about 2 feet!
