SPECIAL EVENT STATION COMMERATING 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY |
The Sesquicentennial i.e., the 150th Birth Anniversary of the greatest Indian Scientist Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, falls on the 30th November 2008. Acharya J C Bose, was the first one to demonstrate that a pistol at a distance can be activated using Wireless Communication, much before G.Marconi communicated across the Atlantic. Marconi used equipment designed by Acharya JC Bose, for his experiments. Acharya never claimed any patent for his inventions. He did pioneering work in Botany, to demonstrate that plants too feel pleasure and pain like human beings. A spearheading movement has been initiated by OM Datta VU2DSI, to bring awareness about the life, work and inventions of Acharya JC Bose. For this he had obtained special call sign AT0JCB and celebrated the birth anniversary in the past few years. He had demonstrations in various schools and colleges in his native district of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. Special event stations using a common suffix "JCB", but with different prefixes like AT0, AU1, AU2, AU4, AU5, AU7 and AU9 were on the air from 25th November 2007 to 02 December 2007, and gave DXers and VUs, QSOs with these new prefixes. In November 2008, special event stations with prefixes AT1 to AT0, AU1 to AU0, etc., are planned for the occasion with common suffix “JCB”. |
