Each bride and groom wants a lasting memory of their wedding day, and, today, the happy couples have the advantage of a chicago wedding videographer. Couples spend months in advance planning their wedding, and as much as each couple would like the day to go off without a hitch, typically there is one glitch or another. Without properly planning your wedding video, this could be the glitch.

There is a lot involved in a wedding- the wedding party, the events leading up to and during the big day, and the guests. Your videographer should not just show up at the wedding, but, should show up at the wedding knowing who the wedding party is; knowing the events that will occur during the day, and when they will occur; and already acquainted with the wedding coordinator. Just as the wedding day itself, the videographer should be well prepared for the event, and the role they will play during the day.

One thing that couples often fail to do is speak to the videographer about what they expect from the finished video. If the couple would like the events leading up to the wedding, such as, the engagement party, rehearsal dinner and so on, included on the video they should discuss this with the videographer. It is also important to ensure that your videographer is a professional. Many couples are under the assumption that their videographer knows what they are doing. That is not always the case, and you should always ask for references prior to hiring the professional. The videographer should have plenty of tapes and batteries, not just stick around until they are out of film, or their batteries run out. They should also know how to professionally film to ensure that the wedding couple and all the guests at the big day are in their best light.

Determine which shots you definitely want. You likely won’t want your videographer trailing behind you throughout the day, but, there are going to be some shots that are very important – the toasts, the cutting of the cake, the throwing of the garter and bouquet, and so on. Discuss with your videographer what shots you definitely want of film. From there, you might decide to keep things a bit natural and let the videographer work from the sidelines.

Shop for your Chicago wedding videographer just as you would your caterer, or any other important professional involved in the wedding. Your videographer should be a seasoned professional that can show you work that he’s performed for other weddings and provide you with references. Make sure the videographer is introduced to the important members and helpers of the wedding – the wedding planner, the parents, the wedding party, etc. Most of all, plan!
