Make Marzipan Candies by Raffaele Imperiale

Spaniard kids love to eat Marzipan candies. On special occasions and festive, Spaniard moms don’t forget to cook these sweet candies for their kids. On this Christmas I am planning to make these marzipan almond candies for my grandkids. P.S. you can use any nuts of your choice if your kid’s don’t like almonds. Without wasting time let’s move on to the recipe of sweet candies by Raffaele Imperiale.

Ingredients:

  1. ½ pound almonds
  2. 4tbsp sugar
  3. 1 cup sugar
  4. 1 cup powdered sugar

Procedure:

At first we will crush the almonds in a grinder and will convert it into a fine paste. At this stage add some sugar and blend it again. The quality of Marzipan depends upon your blending skills. To convert it into smooth dough you need to blend it and don’t forget to add some water into the mixture. In the next step, dust the slab with powdered sugar. If you find your dough dry, then don’t get panic. If you face problem like this, then I will suggest you to add some lemon juice drop by drop until it goes easy with you. We will punch off the dough into dusted slab. Now your marzipan dough is ready and you can convert it into any shape of your choice. After making marzipan candies leave them in a dry place so that they get hard and don’t forget to top theses candies with roasted almonds.

Glaze:

If you want to add a sparkly touch into your marzipan candies, then dip your candies in glaze. Now, you must be wondering what is glaze and its recipe. Glaze is basically used to add a shiny texture in your cookies. Like marzipan it’s also very easy and simple to cook.

Ingredients:

  1. ½ cup powdered sugar
  2. 1 egg white
  3. 1 tbsp lemon juice

Method:

Egg is a key ingredient in the recipe of glaze. We don’t add egg yolks in the recipe of glaze. Break the eggs in such a way that it will separate the egg yolks with the egg white. You can discard the egg yolk or you can use it for other purpose. After beating eggs we will add some sugar into it until the mixture is changed into thick cream. Don’t forget top add the lemon drops and beat the mixture for 5 minutes. Your mixture should be fluffy and well beaten. If you reach to this stage dip each candy into the glaze. When the glaze gets set your marzipan candies are ready to eat.

Spanish Hot Chocolate:

Ingredients:

  1. ½ pound sweet chocolate
  2. 4 cups milk
  3. 2 tbsp cornstarch

Method:

We will take small pieces of chocolate and add some milk into chocolate and cook it in a small sauce pan. Cook it until it boils. At simmering point remove it from heat. Now, we will move towards the starch and dissolve it in cold water. Add cornstarch to chocolate mixture. Cook it at low flame until it gets thick. Serve this sauce with ice-cream, bread or any side dish of your choice. I hope that you will like this informative session on cuisine by Raffaele Imperiale Spain.
