The 35th week of pregnancy brings about a lot of changes in the expectant mother because of the growing baby inside her, who is almost ready to come out. The weight of the baby is now up to about 5.5 lbs or 2.5 kg and it has grown just over 20 inches or 51 cms. Being 35 weeks pregnant means the lungs maintain steady growth and produce surfactant which is a substance that helps the baby breathe after it is born. The liver functions are fully developed and the other organs and bones keep growing steadily. The fingernails are now more or less full length, reaching the tips of the fingers. When a woman is 35 weeks pregnant, she is very near the end of her journey. By now the total weight gain is up to 14 kg or over 30 lbs. Some digestion problems, mood swings, back pain and frequent urinating will be experienced at week 35.

Reaching up to be 35 weeks pregnant, you look yourself in the mirror and you don't recognize the woman you have become. You have gained weight, maybe 35 pounds until now, your belly and your breasts are probably huge, your feet, ankles and other parts of your body are swollen and your hips have become wider. You probably think by now that you are never going to fit in that skinny pair of jeans of yours never again but that is not actually true. Your body is fixed by nature to endure all these hormonal and physical changes caused by pregnancy and it is programmed to return to its previous condition after childbirth. You are going to lose significant amount of your weight while giving birth and you are going to continue to lose more as long as you follow a healthy, balanced diet, the one you should have been following before getting pregnant, in combination with some light exercising like walking.
