SharePoint Tutorials & Minimal Download Strategy Feature

A feature often enabled in Office 365 and SharePoint 2013 is the “Minimal Download Strategy” site feature:

This feature is used to optimize page rendering. It reduces the page load time by posting only the differences between two pages as users navigate between pages.

Unfortunately this means that navigation between pages in SharePoint or Office 365 causes the page to not refresh. Whilst this is a great performance optimization for users, it doesn’t currently work with SharePoint Tutorials. SharePoint Tutorials allows steps to occur over multiple pages or sites themselves.

For SharePoint Tutorials to work, you will need to disable this “Minimal Download Strategy”. While there is a performance difference, the impact is not generally noticeable to end users.

To disable this feature simply click on “Site settings”:
