There are dozens and dozens of pest control companies that cover the Houston area, so it can be very difficult to choose the best one. To add to the options, each company has various different pest control options. For example, one company may offer one time treatments as well as quarterly services and monthly services. Once you have chosen the company that you want to use, how do you decide which option is right for you? Much of this decision depends on the gravity of the infestation. The more severe the infestation, the more frequent the treatments should be. One time treatments should almost never be used, unless it is to treat the house one last time before moving. One time treatments will only rid the property of pests for the duration of the product used, which is only about 60 days. Quarterly treatments (four times a year) are also insufficient because it leaves the property unprotected from pests for a period of time between treatments. This treatment is often preferred by pest control companies because it offers the largest profit margins. For most problems, although it may seem like too much, an every other month plan is the best option. This way, when the products begin to wear off after 60 days, another treatment will be applied, continuing the protection of the home. It is also important to know that treatments should be continued for at least a year to make sure that treatments are applied for the duration of the breeding cycles, so that pests don't just re-infest.
