Goal Setting

Goal Setting is a common technique which is used to regulate arousal levels.

There are three types of goals:

* Process Goals - allowing you to focus on the task at hand. (E.G - Put the shoulder in the right position during a tackle).
* Performance Goals - allows you to concentrate on aspects of your performance (E.G - Make 15 tackles in the match).
* Outcome Goals - Are based on a result. Convert Goals at over 75% per year.

So it is important to use Process Goals, to ensure you have the right Rugby Union related habits to achieve your performance goals which will in turn give you the desired outcome.

It is important to make sure your goals are realstic, specific to your ask and you give yourself sufficient time to achieve the goals. Goals can be set for long and short term during training or before the match. During the match you can use Goal Setting to increase motivation and lower Anxiety Levels as it makes you want to achieve tasks.
