What is Arousal?

Arousal is a combination of physiological and psychological activity of a person, and is linked with the intensity dimensions of motviation of person at certain period of time. Highly aroused individuals will be mentally and physically activated, and will experience physical symptons such as sweating, increased heart rate and heavy breathing. Someone who is lowly aroused will appear normal and calm. In Rugby Union an example of when you would be highly aroused would be if you had a kick to win the game. You would be highly aroused then. Meanwhile an example of when you would be less aroused would be if you were kicking a goal when your team is already up by 20 points.
