Getting The Prep Right For Hockey Time

When you get ready to play fantasy hockey, it is important to choose the right league. Pay careful attention to the way in which points are being awarded, how the draft is implemented and other aspects of the overall league operation.

Every fantasy hockey league will have a specific set of rules that govern the draft.  Select players that have shown consistency in their stats in terms of their points per game averages and the number of goals that they score.

It is best to spend your money wisely.  Many drafts impose salary caps and thus, you want to keep your budget in mind at all times.  Having one star player on a bad fantasy hockey league is not sufficient for earning a team victory.  You must think of the quality of players that you have throughout all of the different positions.

You have to be smart when choosing a goaltender.  The statistics of the goaltenders are vital to the overall standing of your team.  Consider the team that this individual will be playing for, the amount that he will be playing, his past experience and any other pertinent information that is relevant to the hockey season.

You should also take a close and careful look at the NHL.  Look out for players that have potential contract disputes, transfers to other teams that will impact their averages and consider the potential for injuries as well.  Throughout the season it will be necessary to follow the NHL and your team players in order to learn who has been injured and to make the necessary changes to your starting lineup.

After you have determined who your preferred players are, you will be ready for the draft.  It is best to have a few back-up players just in case another league member chooses some of your first picks.  In some leagues players can be drafted by several owners and in some, these individuals can only play for one team.
