It started when I was very young, I knew I wanted to be a nurse. Whenever anyone scraped a knee or busted a lip, I was quick to take charge and be their little nurse! You could say it runs in my genes, because my mother is a nurse as well. I like to help people when they are sick or injured, but I especially love to help young kids out. I didn't find out until the last year or two that I wanted to be a pediatrics nurse, but I am so glad that I finally decided. This Career Web Project is a great way for us to educate each other on our majors and future goals.

Some of the activities a pediatric nurse would be doing would be documenting the patients medical history, drawing blood, administer medication and giving vaccinations. It can be a very hectic job, but I feel like i could handle the responsibilities placed on my shoulders. My lifestyle would definitely be able to maintain stability while pursuing this particular career. I don't have a family now, but I feel my husbands salary plus my own would create a stable life for my future children. A nurses salary is actually very satisfying due to high demand for these trained individuals.

I feel like my job seeking ability is based on wise judgement and experience. You have to find a career that you would be happy to do if you weren't getting paid. Sick or injured kids have no price tag over their heads in my eyes. You have to love your job and be able to come into work with a positive attitude. If you walk into a hospital as an employee and take all of your frustrations out on your patients, you're only adding to their own obvious stresses.

I am definitely looking for a career that once I am done with my training, that employment follows shortly after. The training that comes along with a 2 year nursing program is extensive and I feel employment would certainly come short after I'd graduated the program. The good thing about being a nurse is if you start out young, that can be your steady career for your entire life. It is a job you can keep and it has promises of good financial stability.

Being a pediatric nurse, you also have the opportunity to travel if you'd like. Traveling nurses get paid significantly more than normal residential nurses. You can stay local, or you can venture out and find a hospital or pediatrics office where you can have a fresh start. Depending on how attached you are to your current city, it could be a good or bad thing that you might have to relocate. It's all about your own personal preferences. Nursing is NOT for the faint of heart. You will see blood, guts and even more. I, thankfully, am not squeamish in the least bit. A pediatric nurse needs to have a stomach of steel, skin as tough as leather, and a heart of pure gold
