What is a Pagan? That's actually a hard one. The dictionary tells us it is a person who is godless. Mind you, this comes from dictionaries written by Christians. We are not 'godless,' we have a LOT of gods. I usually tell people it is the oldest religion, having been here since humans first looked up and asked What and Why and Who and How. It is pre-Abrahamic. The literal interpretation is from the latin, 'pagani' meaning people of the countryside. Modern Pagans have adopted it as their religion. Which means capitolize it, just like every other religion.
I'm sure you've heard the word Wicca. Wiccans are only one spoke in the wheel of Pagan, however. It is a demonination, or path as we prefer, of Paganism. Just like Baptist, Protestant, and Catholic are Christian. Pagan covers every ancient religion that worships a multitude of gods. Or none at all, if one happens to be an animist.
Yes, people still worship the old gods. Celtic, Roman, Greek, Slavic, Hindu, Egyptian, Sumerian, Baylonian, Canannite, Shinto, Korean Muism, Hawaiian, Native American, Mayan, Voodoo, you name it; if it isn't Christian/Jewish/Muslim, it's Pagan.
