Diabetes is a chronic disease that appears because the pancreas does not manufacture the amount of insulin needed by the human body, either the factory of a lower quality. Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, is the main substance responsible for the maintenance of adequate blood sugar values. It allows glucose to be transported to the inside of cells, so that they produce energy or stored glucose until its use is required. When it fails, it causes an excessive increase of the sugar contained in the blood (hyperglycemia). In fact, the scientific name of the disease is diabetes mellitus, which means "honey".
