"System and Method of Reconciling Human Resource Database" Receives Patent

On April 15, 2012, US Fed News reported that “System and Method of Reconciling Human Resource Database” received a U.S. Patent (Number 8,156,143).  Based on what the article says, this newly patented system and method coordinates the information entered into Payroll, Human Resources, Accounting, tax, travel and other relatable databases used within a company.  The system can retrieve data based on the user’s requests.  The article suggests for discrepancies in the data, queries would automatically be generated to provide additional detail.  The patent submission is viewable through the link included in the article.  The patent submission states the system includes an aggregation component, a query component, a comparator component, a drill-down component, and a reporting component.

This would be a great system, not only to track a company's employee-related expenses, but also consultant-related expenses.  An applicable use would be in the pharmaceutical industry.  The Federal Physician Payment Sunshine Act (“The Sunshine Act”) is part of a growing body of Federal and State laws that collectively strive to provide transparency as to how pharmaceutical companies are compensating consultant physicians in order to control/limit this spending.  This would include payments, gifts, honoraria, travel, and other benefits.  This system would allow a company to report such spending stored in separate databases quickly and easily.
