Is Fashion Art? There are two ends to an argument. In this case there is the argument that Fashion is a style, popular to the date, that evolves solely from the interests of fashion innovators. The other argument is that a garment or other piece of fashion is a reflection of the designer; their art work. Like a painting, a piece of fashion tells a thousand words. When a view a runway garment by a particular designer, thoughts of his or her inspiration automatically come to my head. What ideas came to them to be able to create the garment and the skill level involved. Like a sculpture, each piece is carefully places and a high level of skill and motivation is involved. All to create a masterpiece. Therefore, to me as a designer, fashion is an art. There are so many ways as a designer that you can not just be an innovator but a creator. My art reflects who I am, my interests, and my inspirations through my piece. As you view the art of New Comings, I hope you can both discover my inspiration and discover inspiration for yourself.
