About Me

My name is Jaime and I graduated from the Mount in 2008.
I am currently a first grade leave replacement in an elementary school.

I came to the decision to become a a teacher when I was five. Although I always wanted to be a teacher, it wasn't until I had my 7th grade science teacher that I was absolutely certain. This teacher was a great role model and someone that I model my teaching style after.

Personal Educational Philosophy

It seems that after my survey, I have a combined teaching philosophy consisting of Cognitivism and Humanism. I believe my personal teaching philosophy is that each child has the right to learn and achieve his or her highest potential. All students have different learning styles and each of these learning styles should be accommodated. My style is to educate the whole child, academically, socially and emotionally. I also feel it is important to treat each child as an individual as each child has different needs. It is also necessary to make accommodations for students who have difficulty learning as well as the child who exceeds the norm. Finally, I believe in creating a warm and caring learning environment where mutual respect is fostered and children can become self-directed, life-long learners.
