A Shepard of the Machines

About Machinist

Mutations

Nathan is a mutant with a superhuman intuitive talent for inventing mechanical devices. His mutant ability functions as perception, as he possesses the ability to visually perceive "mechanical energy" (the kinetic and potential energy present in the components of mechanical systems) in action. This power allows Nathan to instinctively know and understand the potential and functional operations of any machine or technological device in his visual range, a skill that combined with his natural intelligence allows him to conceive, design and build mechanical devices; and operate, modify and disassemble existing technology or create countermeasures for it.

Nathan's superhuman talent does not mean that he is a greater inventor than geniuses such as Reed Richards, Victor von Doom, or Anthony Stark, none of whom owe their talent for invention to mutation. But even a genius at invention must for the most part consciously work out the theoretical principles behind the invention and then the design of the invention itself through a series of logical steps. In Nathan's case, however, many of these logical steps would be worked out by his subconscious mind. Hence, Nathan himself might not be entirely aware of exactly how he figured out how to create an invention of his.

When Nathan's mind works to hard on a device for a period more then an hour and a half his brain will start to over heat slowly. Resulting in three stages of discomfort. 3 beings not so bad and 1 being horrible they are: 1) Minor throbbing in the brain (Headache) 2) Nausia and Dizziness begin to take hold, making him fumble more. Also sweating comes with this. 3) Black outs - he will suddenly work himself to hard and completely overheat his brain resulting in him powerdoing like a computer shuts down when it overheats.

About Me

As you know, my name is Nathan Shepard. I grew up in a small farming community called Pitt Meadows although I didn't exactly grow up on a farm myself. Through the years though the town has grown and has been labelled as a city. I enjoy the fresh outdoors of the - not so busy - towns such as Pitt Meadows. I started out in an elementry school called Davie Jones Elementry (Yes a real school!) I was quite popular in school. I am still to this day very athletic, bright and have had one too many crushes in my life so far but who knows, maybe more will come about. From that school I went to a highschool. Yes a highschool, their are no middle schools around where I lived. Anyways, the highschool was named Pitt Meadows Secondary School. PMSS, funny huh? Remove the School and what do you have? What ever single one of the female teachers had it seemed every day. That's right. PMS. Okay but seriously, I maintained steady grades along the A area until well. You know, the migraines starting coming. I never realised it was because of the things I was making.

They say to much thinking is bad for the brain, well clearly that's what my powers are doing. Hurting my brain although, from all my doctors responses "Your just growing up. Their is nothing wrong don't worry." Yeah, tell that to me when I am making solar systems that seem to revolve around a small burning ball that actually does have it's own small gravitational pull! Beat that science geeks! - But really I'm just a bright, popular and athletic kid. Oh yes, I almost for got I did happen to have a long term relaitonship with a girl back home named Tiffany and well she moved when I was 15.

When I turned 14 though my mother wanted to see if maybe I could become famous or rich or both. She right away enrolled me in extra activites after school. Acting, Singing and after my first musical play I was noticed by an agent who I ended up modelling for right through most of my highschool life. I am quite proud of it to. Though my girlfriend of the time didn't like seeing me in magazines half naked and wearing nothing but tighty whitties. Well least I could re-assure her alot by telling that I was hers and no one elses but then she moved and I've basically just kept with the modelling and kept being single since then.

I guess that's my life's story up to the point where I sent a letter to the heads of a school for mutants describing my migraines and the fact I was making things that half the people in NASA couldn't even possibly make. So yes, that's my life.

Recently I've made friends through out the school. A girl Lacey, she's really gorgeous but doesn't know the MEANING of personnality. I'd be easier to get personnality from a rock then her. THough at times she shows some signs of a personnality and of true emotions then you just left talking to a wall again. Then I met another girl, Kyra. Really cute but thinks I'm really immature and doesn't understand my reasons for it. But she's cute and I kindof have a goofy crush on her. Though she doesn't fancy the "male population" but I'll hold my ground and see if I can maybe win her heart though it is a long shot.

I'm a trainee now for the x-men. Though I'm not on the official "Trainee Team" I am still considered a trainee. Though it sucks I am stuck in side the mansion because of this whole mutant registration and the sentinels in our backyard.

I am now officially in a relationship with the stone cold girl Lacey. Lack of emotions, which just means less crying. Though she certainly is a pain in my side. Actually I could say she's a kidney stone but hey. For some reason, I don't know why. I just can't get enough of her.
