My Old Lady Movie- A dramedy directed by Israel Horovitz

My Old Lady Movie is the new Kevin Kline dramedy that stars Maggie Smith, Jane Birkin and Dominique Pinon. This is a Paris-based dramatic comedy that marks the film directorial debut of playwright and screenwriter Israel Horovitz.

The plot

In My Old Lady Movie Kevin Kline plays as a down-and-out New Yorker who travels to Paris to liquidate a huge and valuable apartment he has inherited from his estranged father. When he reaches that apartment in Paris h finds Maggie Smith, a refined old lady living in the apartment with her daughter played by Jane Birkin. He then discovers more details about that old lady and finds out that she was her father’s old lover for more than 50 years.

Rachael Horovitz teams with French producers Raphael Benoliel, Nitsa Benchetrit and David Barrot to produce. This movie is co-produced by Marie-Cecile Renauld. Horovitz  says"Of all my stage plays, My Old Lady is my very favorite. For years, this play has cried out to me to be seen in its Paris setting, to become a film…to create this film with Maggie Smith, Kevin Kline, Jane Birkin and Dominique Pinon is beyond thrilling. For me, this defines thrilling."

Horovitz’s screenwriting credits include “The Strawberry Statement,” which took the jury prize at Cannes in 1970, Al Pacino comedy “Author! Author!” (1982) and Istvan Szabo’s 1999 epic “Sunshine,” the winner of the European Film Award for screenplay.
