Kennywood
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: SWEEKIN AWE-ALL BANDTRIPS

Ok, so I am really behind on my blogging!!

Sorry my few and far between readers.

Anyway, onto posting about Kennywood.  (this may not be very detailed as it was like 2 and a half weeks ago)

 Kennywood!!!!

Ok, so every year our band takes a trip to Kennywood, it is an amusement park in Pittsburgh, PA, for those of you who don't know.  Two years ago, it was canceled due to storms.  Last year, it was on my birthday, they sang while they rode the merry-go-round.  That was sure interesting!!  It was scheduled to be on my birthday this year, but we couldn't go then, so the date was changed to August 13th.  So I got up at like 7:30, we had to be at the school by 8:45.  The ungodly hour was summer suicide!!  That was the earliest I got up the entire summer, excluding the day we went camping and the sun woke me up at 6:30, AM!!!, but that was involuntary therefore it doesn't count.  Anyway, I crawled out of bed, got dressed ate breakfast and jumped in the car.  My dad took me and we had to pick up first, Mel, who manually opened our automatic doors.  Then we picked up Sarah and Caitlin, and no I am not talking about the Kaitlyn I talk about in like every blog, this is a different Kaitlyn who didn't have a ride.   Anyway, on our way to the school, me and Mel, who sat in the back seat of my van, made funny noises right in Sarah's ears the entire way there.  Sarah gets annoyed easily, making it more funny than imagineable.  Then we got to the school and got our uniforms.  Thankfully this time Kaitlyn and I were not exiled to the front of the bus.  Anyway, I sat with Kaitlyn on the bus.  We filmed many videos, just as we did last time we went to Kennywood.  One was a documentary about the rare Kaitlyn in its natural habitat.  Another was a music video, ok it was just Jenn G. singing 7 things, which if you have never heard the song by schizophrenic Miley Cyrus is suckish yet extremely repetitive, so of course it gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day.  Then we took a short break and made fun of the song.  The next video was of me and Kaitlyn pretending to be on a roller coaster, unfortunately the bus driver heard us and started swerving saying "I heard there was a roller coaster!"  It was a very interesting bus ride.

Then we got to Kennywood.  I left with Sarah, and Jenn R, and Kaitlyn.  Somehow my bad luck didn't set off the metal detectors and I got into the park with no problems.  Then everyone but Kaitlyn had to go to the bathroom.  We did that and Kaitlyn and Jenn wanted to go on this one ride, it is kind of like that swinging Pirate Ride that they have at every park, but it was bigger and it spun.   Me and Sarah went on the bumper cars while we waited.  Then we met back up and went on the Pirate ship ride, I am not fond of that ride because I am afraid of steepness and heights, but I lived through it.  We also went on the Music Express, the ride that they had at every park that spins really super fast and plays music.  We went on it like 10 times last year.  Then we went on the Raging Rapids.  It was my favorite ride.  We went on it twice despite Kaitlyn's wishes.  We all got soaking wet, but I was the only one smart enough to but on sandals and bring other shoes.  Therefore I was the only one who didn't complain the rest of the day that I had soaking wet shoes.  Then we went on the Thunderbolt, the second largest roller coaster in the park, (granted there are only 4 but....).  And me being scared to death of roller coasters, started flipping out when I saw the size of the drops.  Ah well, I lived through it.  Then we ate lunch at the place where we got all of our food last year (we were very repetitive last year).  I got chicken.  Then we went on the Jack Rabbit.  This is a roller coaster just like the thunderbolt but it is a little bit shorter.  I was scared to death but made it through (after all I wouldn't be writing this blog if I died).  Then we went on the Racers, I actually like this kind of ride.  I actually put my hands in the air.  It was truly amazing.  Then Kaitlyn and Jenn went on the Phantom's Revenge, the biggest roller coaster in the park.  This one was like /\/\/\/\/\, that is what it looked like, except it was steeper.  Why would someone build such a demonic structure.  While they were doing that me and Sarah went on the Music Express again.  Then we went on the Kangaroo, its this ride that spins, sends u up a ramp, then u fall like 2 feet and repeat.  It was really boring.  We went on it like 20 times last year though, so we obviously had to go on it for old times' sake.  Then Kaitlyn and Jenn got off of the ride and because she liked it so much, she went on it with Sarah instead of Jenn as planned.  Me and Jenn went on the Kangaroo, then the Wipeout, this ride that spins super fast and tilts,  it is really fun.  Then Sarah and Jenn went on the Pittsburgh Plunge, it is pretty much a log ride.  Me and Kaitlyn didn't want to get all wet though so instead we went on the Wipeout, while we were in line we saw Afton and Mel layin on the sidewalk.  We talked to them while we waited, and no we obviously didn't ask why they were laying there on the ground.  Kaitlyn thought it was boring though.  She has turned into a roller coaster liker.  Shunnnnn!!!!  And she is that bad kind of roller coaster liker that doesn't like boring rides at all.  Kaitlyn, *sigh*.  Anyway, we all met up and rode the 2nd awesomest ride in the park, The Exterminator.  The line was extremely long.  It was worth it though.  I splashed Sarah with the water that I caught that was dripping off of the Pittsburgh Plunge.  Then Sarah went to get a bottle of water out of a vending machine and it ate her money.  Vending machines do not like Sarah at all.  Oh, right the ride.  It was like an indoor Wild Mouse.  It was all dark inside.  That ride was truly awesome, wait it was better that awesome, it was awe-ALL.  Then we got off of that ride, and got food.  I got breadstix and pizza and mountain dew.  Ps, if u know me u know that I should never be allowed to have mountain dew.  Then I ate food, pizza and breadstix, to be exact.  Then I was really super thirsty, so I refilled Kaitlyn's souvenier cup with Mountain Dew.  Then we were walking back to the buses and met up with Miranda, Lindsay, and Mr Schaller, our new band director.  Mr Freeman moved to Kuwait.  I know what you are thinking.  Who moves to Kuwait?!?!?  Apparently, Mr Freeman does.  Anyway, I talked to Lindsay and Kaitlyn.  We discussed how my presense (sp?) makes people hyper.  Lindsay said that when I walked up to her she got really hyper.  I will take that as a compliment.  Then we got changed into our band uniforms.  As fun as Kennywood is, the parade sucks.  It is pretty much a bunch of little kids piercing holes in you with their horrible little eyes.  Anyway, we got all lined up.  And did I mention, trombones are in the front of the parade block now!!!!  Clarinets are finally where they are meant to be behind the drumline in the back of the band.  I mean no offense to my clarinet playing buddies, you all rock, but clarinets are breath-powered torture devices.  Same with Piccolos which were also exiled behind the drumline.  Anyway, we weren't going to start for a while so we all socialized and me and Afton quoted Powerthirst (this awesome video on Youtube) incessantly.  Then we started the parade.  It pretty much sucked.  My section leader Aleah got her wisdom teeth out so she couldn't play very well and the rest of the people pretty much forgot the music.  Then we boarded the bus to go home.  Me and Lindsay and Kaitlyn some how got started writing a song.  I am not really sure how but we did.  It is a spoof on the Fiddler on the Roof song, "If I were a Rich Man" called if I were a milk man.  Then while we were trying to record it on Kaitlyn's phone, her psychotic cousin kept calling.  He called like 40 times.  I made him really mad by calling him Darth Vader, apparently he is really proud of his stalkerishly deep voice, and he hung up.  Then we recorded the song.  Then we got back to the school.  SOB SOB.

ANYWAY, BECAUSE I HAVE NOT BLOGGED IN SO LONG AND THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES ARE NO LONGER FRESH IN MY MIND, I SHALL JUST START FROM TODAY, AUGUST 12TH.

ACTUALLY I SHALL START FROM YESTERDAY AUGUST 10TH.

HA HA I GOTCHA, YOU BELIEVED THAT YESTERDAY WAS 2 DAYS AGO.

IF YA DIDN'T, YOU WILL!!! I AM AWARE THAT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE.

I AM ACTUALLY STARTING ON AUGUST 11TH, WHICH WAS YESTERDAY!!!

AUGUST 11TH

So, my friend Afton invited me over to this camp out thing at her house.  I had never been to Afton's house before (this is a rather insignificant fact compared to how awesomely fun it was).  So it being summer and everyone being super bored, even me.  (YES, I KNOW,,, MANDI GETS BORED?!?!?!?!?) IT HAPPENS PEOPLE!, ANYWAY, I RSVPed.  I came, slightly afraid of Afton and a sleepover in close proximity, Afton is very random and hyper, JUST LIKE ME.  ANYWAY (I EASILY GET OFF TOPIC, LIKE THIS ONE TIME......OH, DARN), SO I GOT THERE WITH MEL, SHE DIDN'T HAVE A RIDE, AND EVERYONE ELSE WAS ALREADY THERE.  THERE WERE SEVEN OF US PLUS AFTON'S 2 SISTERS.  WE JUST HUNG OUT FOR A LITTLE WHILE.  THEN WE WENT DOWN TO THIS PARK AT A NEARBY SCHOOL.  WE STOLE CORN.  ACTUALLY KRYSTA STOLE CORN.  THEN SHE GAVE IT AWAYKRYSTA IS THIS HYPER-ACTIVE (IN THE QUESTIONABLE WAY) UBER-TALL SUPERSKINNY GIRL WHO OFTEN GETS ON PEOPLE'S NERVES.  SHE'S USUALLY OK THOUGH.   ANYWAY, WE GOT TO THE PLAYGROUND WITH OUR CORN AND DO WHAT ALL 13 YEAR OLDS DO WHILE ON A PLAYGROUND, WATCH  OUR FRIENDS TRY TO FIT IN THESE RIDICUOUSLY SMALL CONTRAPTIONS MEANT FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF PEOPLE HALF OUR SIZE.  (HEY JUST TELL ME IF MY CAPS-LOCK ADDICTION GETS TOO OVERBEARING). I decided I was determined to climb up a slide, unfortunately every time I attempted the near-impossible feat Krysta would decide to go down the slide.  In turn, I would scramble down the slide, trying not to get hit Krysta's 85 pound body.  Once I managed to get about halfway up the slide without Krysta's knowing.  She found out and tried to drag me back down the slide with my flip-flop.  It came off and Krysta threw it in a recently plowed (or whatever you do to fields, I disinterest farmers) field.  It took me like 10 minutes to find my flip-flop.  (COUGH, COUGH KRYSTA)  Then FINALLY, AFTER ALL THOSE MINUTES I MADE IT UP THE SLIDE.  TRIUMPHANT AT LAST.  IT STARTED TO GET DARK, THOUGH SO WE HAD TO GO BACK TO AFTON'S HOUSE.

WE GOT BACK TO AFTON'S HOUSE LIKE 30 MINUTES LATER, after collecting much greenery, I might add.  When we got there, Afton's dad Bill, had a campfire going.  We all went inside and made Banana Boats.  If you don't know what these are I don't blame you cuz before yesterday I didn't.  They are slightly hollowed out bananas filled with caramel, chocolate, peanut butter, and marshmallow.  Then you roll it in tin foil and put it next to the fire.  They are full of marshmallowy goodness!!!  Then a couple people made smore's and the others went in.  Me, never ever having enough sugar obviously stayed to make smore's.  Eventually everyone left but me and Krysta.  She wasn't so bad this time.  No shoes of mine being thrown.  I eventually went in because I wanted to socialize more.  I probably shouldn't have left Krysta all alone with fire, but nothing bad came of it so I don't feel so bad.

I went inside and all of us just kinda hung out and Afton made like 60 pizza rolls.  They were gone within minutes.  This part was kinda uneventful though so I will just skip to the part where we went to the tent.

So we went up to the tent, carrying with us a whole bunch of seventeen magazines (who doesn't read seventeen) and crackers.  So we went up there, Krysta fell asleep (thank goodness) and we read a whole bunch of magazines and mocked like every article, especially the ones that gave romance advice.  Then we messed with Afton's phone (it reads her messages) and made it say things, Afton really enjoyed it reading swear words.  Then we all got really tired and tried to fall asleep.  This was at about 3 in the morning.  Except me and Mel and Afton didn't have sleeping bags so we were forced to share one pillow and 2 blankets, one big and one small.  So Afton started yelling at everyone else to share some blankets.  She was like, "You Are SO WARM! You Are SO WARM!" Sometime after this Krysta woke up.  Her sleeping bag was right next to this other girl, Cheyenne's.  Krysta squirmed and poked Cheyenne in the eye.  Then Afton was like YOU ARE SO WARM! Krysta then screams, "we are so warm, OUR EYES ARE BLEEDING!!!"  Then Afton just gets madder, and screams you are so warm! By this time Nichelle and Danielle are fast asleep.  Then Cheyenne yells "WE ARE SO WARM, WE ARE BLEEDING INTERALLY!"  Then I, wanting to be involved in the argument screams "I'll SHOW YOU INTERNALLY BLEEDING!!"  Which gets Krysta to say "I'LL INTERNALLY BLEEDING YOU".  This chaos goes on for about a half hour. After a while, Nichelle and Danielle kinda stir and hear our comotion.  Nichelle pulls a pillow and a blanket out from under her feet and throws them at Afton.  We all settle down, Me and Afton still kinda cold and Mel asleep.  After awhile we all fall asleep.

At about 10 am we woke up.  First Krysta and Cheyenne went in, then Dani and Nichelle, then finally me, Afton, and Mel.  I don't think anyone had breakfast.  Then we watched Krysta play Spyro on Afton's playstation.  As annoying as that girl can be sometimes, she is amazingly good at video games.  It is truly scary.  Anyway we did that while Afton set up these two games to play to pass the time.  There was a scavenger hunt and tug of war.  Each team won once.  Then we went to Afton's trampoline and bounced for a little bit.  Then Krysta had to leave.  Then we went back to Afton's house and watched her little sister Jane play Spyro.  I got a try. I didn't even learn how to play.  I was just pushing buttons.  I blew up a whole bunch of stuff.  IT WAS REALLY FUN.  I AM NOW IN LOVE WITH SPYRO.  Then we went up to Afton's room and read even more magazines.  After a while Cheyenne had to leave.  After she left we made 30 more pizza rolls.  Then we just kinda hung out.  Then we had 30 more pizza rolls.  I <3 PIZZA ROLLS!!!!!  Then we all went on the trampoline and jumped some more.  Then Dani and Nichelle had to go, leaving just Me, Mel, and Afton.  We jumped around and me and Afton rolled.  IT WAS FUN!!!!  Then we went inside and ate Chinese food.  I don't really like Chinese food, though.  I tried to look pleasant, it didn't really work though.  Then my dad came to pick me up.  I then got on the computer and started this very blog entry.  GO BLOGGING!!!!

DANCE RECITAL
Mood:  chatty
Topic: RANDOM PERFORMANCES

Hey my faithful (faithful why, I have no clue) readers.  You should be kinda proud of me, I have blogged recently.  YAY!!!

Well, onto the dance recital story!

DANCE RECITAL

So I have been taking dance lessons for like 11 years.  You are probably thinking "HOLY CRAP she hasn't taken dance for only 2 years of her life".  Yeah, I know that seems like a really long time, and it is pretty long but I LOVE DANCE (even though I pretty much suck). Anyway, let me tell you the story.

So this year, I performed 3 dances in the recital.  The types were modern, jazz, and ballet.  Every year, the studio where I take dance has a big recital (that's getting bigger every year).  So I showed up for the recital like 10 minutes late.  I don't know many people in the other classes because Sarah and I are the only people from our school who take classes for people our age.  Anyway, when I showed up everyone was getting ready to perform the opening number (in the opening number, everyone but the adults and the really little kids dance to the same song).  I got there and just in time to get ready for the opening.  We did the opening and went back to the dressing room.  My best friends in dance are Courtney, Courtney, Kelly, Shannon, Mikayla, Bethany, Maggie, Kaity M, and Sarah.  I hung out with them most of the time we had just sitting in the dressing room.  Anyway, my first dance (my modern) was number 11 so I got ready for that.  Then I talked to people.  Then I stretched and broke my toenail on the carpet.  It started BLEEDING.  DUMB TOE!!!  So I put a bandaid on it.  Man that toe hurt.  I resumed my conversations.  Then it was time for our modern dance.  We went out, waited backstage, then it was our turn. Then we all started our dance.  It was going pretty well for me until my bandaid started to fall off of my toe.  When we did this part on the ground, I "discretely" tried to push my bandaid down.  It wasn't overly successful, but my bandaid didn't fall off.  That was good.  Other than that bandaid dilemma, I did really good.  As in I didn't mess up!!  Woo! Yay!! The rest of my class didn't do so well though.  Sarah kicked someone and 2 people kicked Bethany.  Apparently the rest of the people thought it was a train wreck.  I don't really know though.  Then we returned to the dressing room, ate, made random noises.  It was fun.  Maggie stole my precious bottle cap though.  I chased her around the dressing room with a bottle in hand.  It was a funny sight.  I then took a break from chasing Maggie around the dressing room and got my next costume on.  Then soon enough, it was time to leave for my ballet dance.  We danced to PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.  I <3 that song and that movie.  I didn't <3 the costume though.  My friends said we looked like pirate skanks.  We did.  It's true.  I didn't mess up on this one either.  That made me happy.  We then went back to our dressing room.  Maggie lost my bottle cap.  Luckily my fuse (for those of you who don't know it is a type of drink) was empty.  I got my jazz costume on then.  My friends called this one the JUNO costume because it is really flowey like maternity clothes.

PIANO RECITAL
Mood:  sad
Topic: RANDOM PERFORMANCES

HEY THERE

I HAVE ACTUALLY BLOGGED RECENTLY

I DESERVE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE!!

YAY!!!

CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!!

ANYWAY PIANO RECITAL STORY TIME

Piano Recital

So I started taking piano lessons about 4 months ago.  I actually knew how to play piano decently.  I could play with 2 hands (just barely, but that's beside the point).  So my piano teacher said that I could play a classical piece in a recital for her "more advanced" students.  I chose "Minuet in G" by Bach.

I practiced like crazy on this song.  I had it just about perfect.  Not many people could have played it a lot better.  Then came the recital.

It started out ok.  I wasn't too worried because I played the song really well when I was practicing.  I came in and my friend/pianist Nicole was handing out the brouchoures for the recital.  I talked to her then when the recital started we both took a seat in the back.  Nicole played 2nd and I played 4th.  She did very very well.  I said that playing piano that well should be illegal.  Then it was my turn.  UGH! I started and completely messed up the first part.  Then when I moved on to the second part (which starts similarilly to the first part) I accidentally played the first part again (suckilly still, I might add).  After that, I went back to the second part and it pretty much sucked.  Then I missed a repeat.  I continued onto the next few phrases, my fingers still reluctant to move.  I repeated that and it wasn't completely sucky.  I messed that song up so bad.  If you heard it, you would have thought the person playing it was three.  IT SUCKED SO BAD!!!!  I returned to my seat as red as a tomato, or so I felt.

For the rest of the time, Nicole and I judged how illegal each song would be based on how amazingly fast and dexterously the composition required the pianists fingers to be.  This one guy named Keegan earned a triple burning-at-the-stake from me and Nicole.  It was so good it was disgusting.  At least, I had fun talking to Nicole.  Oh, well.  It was only my first piano recital.  And Nicole said it wasn't that bad.  (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS)

ANYWAY....

MANDI OUT

PS I HOPE YOU ALL LOVE MY FONT (IT IS TERMINAL FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO GET THE JOKE IN THAT WORD)!!

LAST MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND CONCERT
Mood:  not sure
Topic: RANDOM PERFORMANCES

So, it was my last middle school band concert.

I was coming home from dance practice, which I had to leave early from.  My dad picked me up 15 minutes late.  I was irritated  Yell.  But not the point.

THE CONCERT

So I scrambled to get ready.  I got to the concert almost ten minutes after I was suppposed to be there.  I didn't get tuned because I left my trombone in the pit, where our jazz band was playing.  So things weren't going SO well.  Then I went out to play for jazz band.

We got out there.  There were no chairs or anything set up.  There weren't enough stands.  The trumpets all had to share one.  Then we started playing.  IT WAS BAD.  We did ok on the first one, except it was way, way, way too slow.  We moved onto the second one, which was a little better.  Then we started playing "When I Fall In Love".  Half of the people came in late.  Then everyone got lost.  We BOMBED it.  That was our last song.  I went to play for concert band.

Concert band was way better than jazz band.  The first song was just the right speed.  The brass was pretty good, especially the trombones (if I do say so myself).  Then the next 2 songs went as planned.  I didn't mess up on either of them.  Then "Chant Rituals".  Oh my flaberjingling fairy godmother!!  We started.  The low brass rocked! And I am not just complimenting myself.  This person who was supposed to lower the curtain said that was the best low brass section she had heard in a very long time and that she got chills just hearing us.  AND SHE PLAYS CLARINET!!!!!  The rest of the band was really good, too.  That was probably the best song I have ever played with our concert band ever!

The rest of the bands did pretty good.  I had to leave before I could hear the high school band or the high school flute choir.  Oh well.

I was happy.

MANDI OUT.
