CISB with Professor Zamora has opened my mind into many aspects of computers and all aspects that are involved with them. When I signed up for this class I was expecting that I knew everything and that it would be a piece of cake for me. After the first day of class I knew that I was very wrong. One thing that I was very uneducated about was the history of computers and how far they have come in the past 30 years. When computers were first manifested they were massive machines that would fill up rooms and weight several thousand pounds. Since then computers have become increasingly smaller and faster. Another issue that was brought up during this class was that of privacy. I learned that every action one takes online is recorded and stored. This has led me to rethink how safe private information really is. I also found out very valuable information about how identity theft happens and how it can be avoided. The computer industry also creates many jobs for not only the United State but many other developing countries as well. Many companies now outsource many jobs to foreign countries. This is referred to as outsourcing. We also discussed how humanity is become more and more dependant on computers. Also how without computers many people would not be able to achieve the efficiency of everyday activities that they complete. Overall CISB11 has made me think of computers in many different ways. From both negative and positive outlooks. Computers are more than just computers now days, they are a way of life. Most people rely on computers and while they are very beneficial they also have many downfalls.
