Biography of PVT John Doe

John Doe was a smart kid who graduated high school with honors. He had a few scholarship opportunities lined up, but decided he would rather do something for his country. He enlisted in the Army Reserve Component. He did not want a combat job -- he didn't want to upset his family or worry them that much, so he opted for a support role. Still, a few months after he had completed basic training and returned home, he got the deployment order to Afghanistan. He was 18 -- young and physically fit. He was single, with no girlfriend or anyone except his family to worry about him. So even though he was nervous about the deployment, he was excited.

The year passed without any incidence. His support position meant he only had to leave the base a handful of times during the year. He had gotten accustomed to the sound of mortar fire during the year, but thankfully, unlike many of the men in his unit, he had not witnessed much of the cruelty of the war. When he returned home and back to his unit, life was good. He seemed to adjust back to civilian life with relative ease, and couldn't really say he had any issues.
