Sporting goods stores are full of hundreds of lures, rod, reels and gadgets. Most of the products are designed to catch anglers not fish. I began fishing many years ago with my dad at time when his tackle box contained a rigs to troll live minnows and selected "hot" lures. It was a good uncomplicated time.

When I became a young adult life began to take over my love for fishing. After marriage, kids, three cities, and endless jobs, I finally settled down to take up angling again. To say the least, I was immediately overwhelmed by the amount of fishing gear available. I began to read magazines, internet articles and talk to people. I found fishing had become an intense sport like many other things in modern life. I was told I had to have boat, the best reels would cost me a couple hundred dollars. Instead of one lure, I would need to buy five of each lure to make sure the right color was available under the right "conditions" as it is put these days.

Well I did buy a boat but found out that between the monthly payments and storage, it was more problems that it was worth. I literally bought five different fishing rod and reel combinations. At one time, I counted over 100 lures.

One day I came to the conclusion that enough is enough. There has to be a way to return to a simpler, more uncomplicated way. The rest of this website is devoted to my journey to fishing simplicity. I hope this helps people become interested in fishing without the intensity and over material excess of your average modern day angler.
